i noticed he never got that big fight he wanted with forrest, and he never given the opportunity to fight for a legitimate world title?
TBH at that time the lesser world titles reigned supreme on SKY, Khaliq wasn't with one of the big boys of his era but held the IBO title and he was one of many British fighters who enjoyed ''world champion'' status without being a real world champion. He was showing vunrelability against Bergman and also run close in other bouts and would of been battered by Vernon but when i look at others who recieved a title shot Jawaid at least deserved a shot at one of the alphabet titles. But he wasn't the Sexy option sadly for him. Not sure why he retired he could of continued but maybe he felt he wasn't going to go any further, shame really he always sold out arena's with his army of fans and entertained.
TBH also around them times, I remember James Hare a quite talented boxer on a tremendous run being spent by his final fight of the year and losing and never coming back as he should of. Really sad looking back, Khaliq, Hare, Richard Williams and many others mismanaged guys.
