Was Joe Louis faster P4P than Roy Jones?

    In terms of handspeed, maybe Louis was faster P4P. In terms of footspeed? No!!!!

    The handspeed is still a BIG no. People seem to think "Well, Louis was underrated in his handspeed, so I guess that means we should cut him some slack" without realizing they're comparing him to Roy Jones.

    I don't say Louis was underrated in order to undermine the RJJ handspeed, but simply to get Joe a bit of due. I have no problem whatsoever with people picking Jones here, i would myself probably. Guys like Jones, Davis Jr., Camacho, SRL, Taylor, Ali etc sit on the absolute pinnacle, but IMO Joe sits solidly on the level below them regarding hand speed only.

    It's easy for your eyes to mesh fast movements with fast punches.

    Jones was an athletic boxer who leap into battle with looping shots whereas Louis was an energy conserving stalker. Both men could pull the trigger at blinding speed, nothing is clear except that Joe threw much shorter blows.

    No he was'nt he was'nt even the fastest HW of his own era.
