Was John Conteh in his prime when he fought the 15 grinder with Saad Muhammad?

To be fair, Galindez was past it when he lost to Rossman. He was ready to be taken.

I think Galindez deserves to be a slight favourite againt Coteh. He's just more proven as well as being a considerable talent himself and was about a two years ahead of Conteh in development as a fighter, due to the deep argentinian light heavy scene and greater number of fights he had.If they had fought each other for the title or right after they had both won, that experience may have given him enough of an edge to cancel out any lesser technical ability.

I think Conteh's versatility wins out against Galindez more often than not. Both very technically skilled, but Conteh's edge in categories such as the jab and general center-ring boxing skills would win out over Galindez's slick bruising style IMO, mostly due to his reach and footwork. Not to mention Conteh was more than capable of handling his business in a slug-fest if the situation called for it. He may not have hit his peak, but IMO he was already about as skilled and seasoned as the rest of the LHW class of the era could hope to be. No doubt though, a series between the two would make for some excellent fights, with just the right mixture of smooth technique and firepower.
