Yes he was a little dirty and yes he was cagey. He is always a little dirty punching on the break and stuff like that but not many of the greats and the best dont come with a bit of a nasty streak. As for cagey i was very worried about what AJ would do if he got tagged and hurt, i thought inexperience would show and he would do all the wrong things but he didnt fall apart he killed time, managed to control the pace through doing very little and give himself the chance to stay in the fight. If anything im very impressed considering the 6th round was only his 50th round as a pro and in against one of the best opponants he is ever likely to face. And spitting the shield out is a dik move but the guy was in serious trouble and doing what he had to do, he only did it the once. Its hardly the worst offence in the sport.
There are times I have thought Joshua has been a bit naughty whether by accident or not. It looked to me that he hit after the bell against Johnson and Whyte at the end of the first round
I think the fatigue set in and he instinctively began to employ these tactics. These are survival instincts.
Yeah he hit on the break a few times but not with anything damaging and the mouth guard came out at a convenient time. So yeah he definitely employed some gamesmanship to get him through the fight. Some will say it was smart others will say it was dirty depending on who you were rooting for.
Joshua did the same against Dillian Whyte. It seems Joshua does what he has to do to win, if that means being a little bit dirty then so be it. I knew though that if Klitschko went for the clinch then Joshua would just throw punches and not allow Klitschko getting hold of him. That's what he done when Klitschko was hurt.
Neither fighter was totally sticking to the rules e.g. Wlad was hitting with the inside of the glove. The right that caught AJ landed after Wlad slapped AJ's left hand out of the way.
When a fighter is hurt, gets up and is on shaky legs 10-15 seconds can mean the world. We'll never know, but if he showed more weakness had the fight not been stopped for a mouth guard break, he's taking more punches and was not in the shape to return much in return.
No chance? BS, it just shows how blind you are. Perhaps blind from either jealousy or hate. Walt had an excellent chance for the upset. AJ was floored and hurt and lost 3 rounds in a row.
