He activated the rematch clause, so he did have a choice.
But i get what you are saying.

Bellew was scared of Dorticos, I remember him pretty much admitting when he name dropped him as a potential opponent. There were 4 killer Cruisers in that WBSS and Bellew bottled it. The way Gassiev finished Dorticos off was very impressive, I've always felt that Gassiev never quite got the credit he deserved.

He feasted on bums and then got lucky Fury went off the rails, rode luck against Klitschko and didn't look all that great against a succession of other has beens. First real test his own age knocked him out and the other schooled him twice. Belt holder.

He wouldn’t have dared. That’s why his vacant title win means nothing. It wasn’t even against one of the top guys for it, yet we were being told it was against the real danger man in the division. Laughable.

That's an understatement. He would have been obliterated by any of the semi-finalists.

I still think Hearn getting Bellew a vacant WBC shot against Makabu at Goodison is the greatest trick he ever pulled (next is probably not one, but two PPVs for Haye vs Bellew).

Of course Makabu finally fought someone who was genuinely world class in his day - the old super middleweight Badou Jack. Nobody can be too surprised that ancient Jack still got the knockout despite going up two massive weight classes.

41 year old Wlad was still a good opponent. He'd be top 5 today. Povetkin at 38yo was good also.

He outboxed Parker by a mile. He easily outboxed Ruiz.

I don't understand why people keep disrespecting Ruiz. He arguably beat Parker, then Joshua and also beat Ortiz.

Doesn't matter if he took a count vs Price, he still well beat him and also a shot 41 year old Povetkin still beat Whyte.

39 year old Pov was still a good fighter and well different to the 41 year version Whyte beat.

He was still a great fighter at that age though. It was a good victory.

Joshua's resume is not one of the GOAT's, but he's definitely no fraud, his resume is decent, he didn't duck anyone.

He couldn't fight Fury or Wilder due to them ducking him or having other commitments.
