Was Joyce's Chin Overrated Or Is Zhang Just That Powerful ?

Nobody in boxing can take that right hook and not go down.

Fury would get up from it though and somehow become invincible to it. That's just how he works. Gypsy magic.

 

I think Joyce is going to cause people to overrate Zhang. He couldn't knock out Hrgovic, who has a little actual technical ability.

 

Hrgovic was knocked down and also really hurt at least twice in the mid rounds, but yes, he showed absolutely granite whiskers

 

Hurgo is a superior classical boxer to Joyce.

I joked about hurgo looked like he wanted to cry and quit everytime Zhang hit him...I get it now. Way too harsh on Hurgo. Easy to forget how big these men are.

So used to seeing Fury and usyk fighting at crazy paces and moving like crack demons.

Joyce still has a great chin

He was up on his feet at 8 seconds but looks dazed and wobbly.

That punch was perfect and it was thrown from the Southpaw stance too with some beautiful crank added to it.

No one would have taken that shot.

I want to see Zhang Vs Makhmudov now to see who the bigger puncher is.

 

Overrated. But Zhang is also a class operator.

 

Zhang has it in both hands and even from the "wrong" stance too. We don't often see that.

 

The state of his face after being hit by that monster and not being knocked out last time tells you everything you need to know about Joyce's chin.

There's not a single HW that's ever existed who couldn't be cleared out with the right punch.

 

Got to give it to Zhang

Had Joyce so worried about the left hand he forgot about the right hook.

 

His chin is still great. You don't take all the shots he did in round 2 if you don't have a great chin.

But if you get hit enough times, it'll crack eventually. And that right hook was monstrous.

 

If Zhang was American he’d be slated as “THE HARDEST PUNCHER IN HW HISTORY!”

But, no. Joyce’s chin was dramatically overrated - he’s been stunned/hurt plenty of times.

The same applies for the ‘slow fast’ nonsense. Joyce was/is DDD level and that’s that. He’d have lost against Usyk, Fury, Wilder, Zhang and likely Hrgovic.

That’s not to take away from Zhang. He clearly has concussive power in both hands that would stop Wilder, Joshua and ice the current version Fury. The toughest match up for Zhang is the slicker, smaller fighter in Usyk.

 

Bit of an insult to go criticising chins after a shot like that from a 20 stone fella.
