Was Joyce's Chin Overrated Or Is Zhang Just That Powerful ?

Im pretty proud. On Polish boxing site long time ago I write that for me Hrgovic got best papers.
Dubois, Joyce, Yoka, Dychko (he die because fatal career management). All this arguments and quarrels and here we are. Croatian is last man standing here.

 

Anyone thinking Joyce doesn't have S tier chin has Zero boxing knowledge. This thread is an insult to both Zhang and Joyce.

 

Joyce chin was overrated. It is of course a very good chin, much better than the chin of your average HW.

But I remember the times when people actually talked about how not even a clean punch from Wilder would crack it. Many thought Joyce's chin was something like a McCall and Mercer type of chin put together. Which is of course a ridiculous notion.

So yes, Joyce's chin was overrated but only because many people don't understand boxing and don't understand that when you get punched that cleanly on the chin, even "pillow-fisted" HWs carry enough power to put you down. It is just basic physiology. Your nervous system shuts down, there's nothing you can do about it.

 

If Gassiev beats Wallin.... it will be another terrible disaster for Fury's boxing record.

 

There is huge difference, as Hrgovic was actually noving and didnt eat so many punches one after another. And Hrgovic has Iron chin as well.
Alao it's obvious that Zhang improved, he said it himself.

Zhang himself said that. He also hired strength and conditioning, nutrionist, massagist and therapist.
He also said his power and cardio is way better now.

How could I claim such a thing about any fighter other than Tyson Fury

 

Joyce has a good chin and lots of courage, you just can not keep getting hit no matter how good of a chin you have. Zhang fought smart and has developed as a pro. Amateur boxing is a different sport than the pro's and Zhang has come into his own.

The fight against Hrgovic could have gone either way and it was Filip who took a count and was rocked a few times.
That being said a fight against Joshua - Usyk- Fury would all be interesting and I would not count out Zhang's power and southpaw style.

Zhang put Hrgovic down with the right hook and took Joyce out with the same punch and his left is wicked as well.

Fury better get back into condition, he looked best in the Wilder 2 fight fit and strong and quick but had an easy fight over White and Chisora who are both past contention and will both get sparked if put in with a young live wire.

Fury is still my favorite over Usyk and Joshua and Zhang but he must get in excellent shape and take these men serious.

I think all 3 are at fault for not making these matches

Zhang naturally wants Fury because that's the money fight.

Yup agreed, Hrgovic did take 12 rounds of shots but they dropped off in the second half.

Zhang would be the first 40 year old boxer to drastically improve...

 

Joyce's chin is not overated. He ate punches from Zhang in the early rnds that would have dropped other guys.

It is just a stupid game plan to eat punches. You will eventually get it cracked.

 

Every single thing about Joyce was overrated because he was another hype-job.
There are reasons he was only 'stepped up' after middle-age.

The reality is he was a bully fighter who relied on being bigger than everyone. As soon as he had to face a 40 year old his size who could punch, he got smashed twice.

Good riddance. And lol at his crooked little manager who just spent years coddling aka 'building him' to set him up for double KO's and no title shot.

 

Joyce has a Glass Jaw. It was Shattered today.
