From 1997 to 2004 It has always been said JMM was to good for his own good it was said he was Hameds mandatory for a long time but Prince didnt wanna know, He Was Barreras Mandatory in 2002 after he beat Morales but vacated the belt,His management ****ed the Pacman rematch up in 2004 and have made disastrous decisons with his career were they the reason that JMM was "ducked" as most people say or was he just to good?
I don't think many people would of wanted to fight him and I don't think they do now really, imo he's easily the best technical fighter on the planet right now. As you say up until 2004 nobody wanted to know, since then he'd had Pacman twice (and beat Pacman twice ), Barrera (past his prime but beat him nonetheless) and John (haven't seen the fight, was it close) in 4 years. Really deserves more fights of that calibre but just doesn't seem to get them. Poor management or being ducked? Don't really know tbh.
Management and promotional blunders . . . nothing more. He was good alright but aside from that . . . there's no money in fighting the guy.
I agree he had horrible management. When he tured down a fight with Pac to fight John in Indoneshia I thought he was crazy.
this is a good post. calling someone ducked simply because they are gifted and dangerous isn't always enough.
actually it's common sense. anyone who uses the word "ducked" either doesn't understand the business of boxing or has personal preferences
