Was Kovalev always overrated?

No one here except a few ever said Ward was that great. Imagine Beterbiev or Gvozdyk, if they knocked Ward down like Kovalev did.

If anything, the two fights showed that Ward isn't that great, which is why he analyzes who could make him look good. That's why he wanted to fight Bellew, thinking he would have an easy time. That's why he never faces Usyk.

Kovalev made the mistake and adored Ward before the fights. Usyk does not care, sees him just as another opponent.

never, he was unified King of LHW that Adonis and Berbey did not dare to face.

A lot of his so called fans turned tail as soon as he got his first defeat, what a bunch of cowards. No shame in getting stopped by a likely HOFer and even possible ATG.

Things like this is why he don't often see the best fight the best anymore. One or two losses and a fighter is "done" and "overrated". Even in Kovalev's case, where he was beaten by a p4p fighter in a close fight until the stoppage. Not to mention he was robbed in the first fight against Ward. And yeah, he might be on the slide now judging by the Alvarez fight, but overrated in his prime? Hell no!

It's ridiculous. The 0 is far to precious these days.

Kovalev is one of the 5 or 6 best boxers of the decade :

    Unified champion
    Won all rounds against Hopkins
Destroyed Nathan Cleverly and Jean Pascal twice
Deserved at least 114-113 against Andre Ward. Only boxer has beat him so.

His only real defeat is against Alvarez, at 35
