Combo of both Joes a great fighter no doubt but Lacy was never anything to brag about he never defeated any big names infact I thought he had a draw with Omar Sheikas.

I'd say this as well. Lacy was obviously a limited fighter, and this is apparent even pre-Calzaghe, but I do think Calzaghe ruined him as a future star, which it was plausible he'd have become with his physical tools and the momentum he'd built up. Not many other fighters would've exposed Lacy the way Calzaghe did, even if they did eventually de-rail the hype train.

Its a trite answer but "both". JC is an extremely good fighter and Lacy is a decent world class boxer but just not the destroyer he was being made out to be.

Lacy is American that should tell you enough.

Dont think Taylor will be doing the same thing to him tho...even tho he is worse now than when Calzaghe fought him.

Both, and Calzaghe had the style to take him to town.

I think Lacy was a bit overrated but IMO the main reason for the beating was the style. JC has the 100 slaps per round style that Lacy had never seen. Lacy was prone to be hit before that fight, but he never faced a workrate like that not the elusive speed. He also was used to hitting guys flush 1 or 2 times, then they would fall. He never hit JC flush.

Now I think Lacy's head is all messed up. His confidence was destroyed and then his terrible shoulder injury/recovery has done him in. I like the guy well enough, so I hope he can hang in there and bounce back to have at least a competitive career.

Calzaghe did his job very well that night, but I think the styles and the youth of Lacy were the main culprits.

It's funny that those who now say Lacy was very overrated are the same people who predicted that he'd KO Calzaghe.

Do you know what you american's make me sick!

Before the fight he was hyped as the second coming. He had knocked out the iron chined reid, but because calzaghe whoped his arse he's all of a sudden; those same guy's propounding his brilliance, now say he's a bum. That was like the 'hopkin's is washed up line' many claimed after calzaghe thrashed him as well.

Both. Calzaghe is a way better boxer than Lacy. Lacy was overhyped, and Joe exposed him. But not to take any credit away from Joe, he is that good

Joe is good but Lacy was vastly overrated.
