Was Lacy Overrated or Calzaghe just that good?

This fight was the definition of a boxing clinic.

 

So are you intimating that all of the Calzaghe fans who are here claiming that Joe is that good and that Lacy was overrated picked Lacy over Calzaghe? :huh

I think you got the wrong end of the stick there.

What I am saying is that most of the non-fans of Calzaghe who now say that Lacy was overrated, initially picked him to KO Calzaghe. They also said that Hopkins would beat him....only to say (after he was defeated) he was way past it. The same people are picking RJJ to beat Calzaghe......and you know what? Yep, you guessed it!

Agreed. If nothing else, Lacy is a seriously tough guy, with a big heart. He won my respect with that alone. I wish the guy all the best after being dropped like a hot potato by his 'fans' immediately after that defeat.

I know exactly what you mean. Lacy lost alot of his fans after that fight. I dont think theres one fan in the world who's fav fighter is Lacy now

 

yeah, there are hordes in here he were creaming over Lacy as the "Next Tyson" over and over and over...and flapping how calzaghe was just a "'slow untested European'. Calzaghe proved to be vastly greater than anyone expected. He ruined Lacy, simple and plain as high noon in the desert.

Calzaghe as we know is that good, but there is no denying the limitations of Lacy. His struggles with Sheika and Vanderpool before Joe tore him apart showed some of them, but in those fights his sheer strength and power was enough to eventually overwhelm the opponent and he took over.

I don't know why people hyped him up so much, he never really looked that impressive to begin with, but since Calzaghe demolished him he has looked horrible.

 

Please don't lump all Americans in your disgust ..Thats the same thing that makes me sick about today's boxing fan ! Hopkins was shot and old after he lost to Calzaghe ,Lacy was the next Mike Tyson but only after they lose do people start tearing them down !


This is what had people picking Pavlik by KO over Hopkins and Lacy by KO over Joe ..Boxing Ignorance !!
