When Lara fought Canelo, should Lara have been more offensive, or did he stay on the outside too long throughout the fight. Even for those who thought Lara won, do you think that if Lara had been more offensive he would have won a more decisive decision? Or did he fight the perfect fight vs Canelo? Was he too worried about Canelo's power and specifically body punching and was that why he stayed on the outside? Against Zaveck, he came out much more ready to engage in a slugfest than he did vs Canelo. Obviously Zaveck was an easier opponent than Canelo, but what would have happened if he had used that strategy vs Canelo? Would he have gotten hurt or would he have been able to hurt Canelo if he utilized more of a slugfest type style?
Absolutely not. Lara fought Canelo the way he fights all opponents, with footwork, angles and sharp counters. lara is consistent and always fights the same way, just like Rigo.
Did you watch Lara's fight with Zaveck? Watch the 1st round. He came out in more of a slugfest style. He was willing to just stay in the pocket and trade, unlike many of his other fights in his usual style with more footwork and angles.
Lara hasn't run in a fight as much before or after Canelo, don't see why people are quick to discredit the guys you got flavor of the month fighters like Golovkin or Andrade who want even mention Lara's name, guys like Trout or Angulo who got beaten up or stopped. Yet people hate on Alvarez who had the dude running for the hills for basically the whole fight.
That was a mismatched tune up, just like Lara's upcoming fight, and Lara knew he was in with inferior opposition, just like Golovkin fights. Against that kind of opponent, Lara did what he should have done and made a statement. Just imagine if Lara consistently fought this level of competition like Golovkin, his KO ratio would be much higher, just like Golovkin.
If he had been more offensive, he might have been dropped once or twice like in the Angulo fight. Lara fought how Lara could against a guy with good power, but he knew he probably wouldn't get the nod in a close fight (certainly not in Vegas). So he probably should have been more agressive and take the risk to get dropped and/or stopped.
