I was the "legs" photographed for famous actor in lead role of former famous
HW champion. This film happened after I retired from the ring. I was also a truly great fighter in my own right. Who am I,and what actor did I "loan" my
legs for the boxing biography ?

In "Gentleman Jim" you see the legs of Mushy Callahan in some scenes - instead of Errol Flynn's.

B,no it was not Mushy Callahan's gams in that picture. Mushy was in charge of the boxing scenes. But Errol Flynn's legs were another famous fighters
    limbs.

No Freddie Steele played a referee ,according to IMDB Movie Base it was Callahan's legs. I've also read Billy Conn stood in ,or his legs did.

McVey, No it was the legs of Freddie Steele ,that was used by Errol Flynn in the 1942 picture Gentleman Jim. Mushy Callahan was the boxing adviser for Warner Brothers Studios
I have checked with many sources corroborating this well-known fact. Mushy Callahan
in 1942, was 37 years old and a former short 5ft8" welterweight, hardly the legs of the much taller Errol Flynn or Jim Corbett for that matter ! Cheers M.

I've tried to do a search on the net on this subject. Lots of articles come up, where it is claimed, that Callahan was used - and lots where Steele gets the credit.

It would appear that Steele was used in the scenes, where you don't see Flynn's head... while Callahan was used exclusively in scenes that focused on Corbett's great footwork.

Could it be, that Steele was Flynn's stunt body - and Callahan was his "stunt feet"?

In his auto biography ,Flynn said he suffered a mild heart attack while filming this picture, perhaps they should have employed a stunt heart too ?

No B. As a kid I saw the picture when it first came out. I recall years later when GI Joe ,a Hollywood movie with Freddie Steele etc,it was mentioned Steele had previously doubled for Errol Flynn in the foot "dep't" in Gentleman
Jim Corbett picture. Mushy callahan was for years the boxing adviser for
Warner Bros. Pictures. Mushy was a 5ft7"inch older man in 1942. It would
have looked bogus using a 38 year old shorter man's legs on the over 6ft Errol Flynn's body.Besides I have checked on several sources that Freddie Steele, was the "legs"under the body of 'in like Flynn "Errol Flynn.Cheers B.:good

    Thank you so much Bert!

Coming from you, it really means a lot.

I have received countless amount of E-Mails and phone calls since Monday. Last night at the COMBATT affair many boxing people, including Joe Cortez, Cooney, Spinks, Hazzard & Holmes, came up to me thanking me for what I do.

I just received this E-Mail from referee Benjy Esteves

    Hi Henry,

I wanted to thank you for saving my ass last night when you noticed the tables were missing two seats each.

I can not say enough for all you do, even down to the smallest detail you are a professional.

I also wanted to commend you on the outstanding service you provide to all the Boxing community and how you continue make Boxing a good thing.

And of course I want to thank you for always being there for the C.O.M.B.A.T.T. kids, any time you need anything from me, do not hesitate to ask .....you can count on me.

God bless you and your Family.
