Was Lennox Lewis a harder puncher than Ken Norton was?

    I use the universally accepted Marciano Scale of Power.

    Norton = .65 Marciano Power Ratio
    Lewis = .82 Marciano Power Ratio

    I am a little odd, but the only reason I wrote this question is because someone mentioned Norton as a KO artist that was boring, I explained above, but the guy replied to me saying he knew Lewis hit harder, he only added Norton because he knocked out Quarry.

    I didn't claim Norton had more power than Lewis (but was more boring), who was early in his career often brawling it out, for instance against Ruddock and maybe also Morrison. He is top 20 of the best punchers in the Heavyweight likely. While I think Kenny knocked Quary put.
    This is the guy that wrote Norton on his list and why I`ve pasted his reply here.

    I'm staying on the fence, so to speak on this one, but this has jolted my memory into something I remember reading in The Ring magazine during the run up to Larry Holme's defence against Michael Spinks. Larry said "How can this kid hurt me? Listen, I've been punched around the head by monsters like Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton and Gerry C00ney"

    Fantastic idea, since Rocky is the obv. 100 % power limit for humans.

    Units in RMPR (Rocky Marciano Power Reference)

    Shavers = 0,87 RMPR
    Foreman = 0,89 RMPR
    Wlad = 0,81 RMPR
    Bob Sapp = 0,83 RMPR

    etc....

    Thanks I was going to delete my question before I saw this vid but I will say they were mainly hooks and he needed to land a lot of them to put guys away whereas Lewis only needed one straight right to end things.

    Let me tell you Mark. Once I was on my way to the bookshop to by the Ring magazine. I believe the yr was 1996, Norton crossed in my path and we scrapped. I kicked his ass but not before he caught me with his best rt cross. Later that night Lennox Lewis came to the house to read my 1996 the Ring magazine and while reading the 50 best we got into scuffle. I kicked his English ass. But not before he caught me with his hardest rt hand. After kicking him out, the wife asked if he hit me hard. I said, not as hard as NORTON at the Henny Penny. There is yr answer Mark.
    Neither hit as hard as. Gerrie Coatzea hit me in 1982 when I ran into him while in Atlantic City. He tripped me and we scrimmaged. I kicked his ass. But not before.......

    This post is smarter than it initially looks.

    Who can really say who hit harder, without being on the receiving end?

    You can engage in informed speculation, but who really knows?

    Almost certainly Lewis hit harder.
    Norton at a 7 & Lewis easily a 9 sounds right.

    Unless the OP confesses trolling, do you really think that Steward said any Featherweight could hit nearly as hard-let alone harder-than a hard hitting SHW?

    Well if he could dehydrate & then rehydrate by adding more than 1/2 of his day of weight back, then maybe, lol!
    If you believe this, show me the quote. I'll bet it is clear that he means pound for pound.
