ano pryor didnt make the same money as leonard but back then i suppose leonard could of fought the bin man and got paid top doller so surely the money was not the issue discuss
*No... he wasn't scarred..but it was a dangerous fight for him and it didn't make sense money-wise... had the right figures been put up, he'd fight anyone... but make nooo mistake about it... Pryor could fight and Pryor wanted Leonard..and i think he could've pulled it off... Pryor is really another version of a Duran mentality... fight u anyway possible..win anyway possible.
Hell no. They knew each other pretty well and even Pryor admitted in sparring it was always 50-50. Pryor was great, but to be fair his claim to fame was beating a young Hearns in the amatuers that had not developed his power, a past his prime Cervantes, and his 2 classic bouts with a superfeatherweight. No way Pryor would of faced any of the fab 4 including Benitez. I think he knew better.
thats why i can see why he would'nt add pryor to that list amean how can it be about the money when he fought afew bums around the time when pryor wanted it
If anyone thinks a guy who fought an undefeated Tommy Hearns was scared to fight Aaron Pryor, they are missing important brain cells.
Legendary Nights myth. Guessing your watched the Pryor-Arguello one tonight or earlier? Leonard offered Pryor a career high payday, Pryor wanted more. Well, Leonard told him where to go, so Pryor went and made a lot less money elsewhere. Can't remember the figures but he offered Pryor something in the region of seven figures I believe but Pryor went elsewhere to fight for five figures. Add to that the fact that Leonard had a short run at 147 due to his injury and that Pryor was absolute toilet at 147.
I don't think so...he didn't go out of his way to face him, but he wasn't scared. SRL had other options that were less risky but same financial gain, if not more.
No, Leonard had a huge ego. He thought he could beat anyone. I think it's more of the other way around.
Leonard offered Pryor a fight for half a million, which was much more than he was making at the time. Pryor wanted more money. This is coming from Aaron's mouth, following his win over Lennox Blackmoore. Pryor also had an offer to fight Duran for more than Leonard was offering, but Pryor had managerial issues that screwed it up. Pryor being "ducked" by the bigger name guys of that era (who were in a different division anyway) is just a Legendary Nights myth. One of numerous that show spawned.
