I think too many of Tyson`s opponents got off the floor for him to be called a one punch KO artist, was there much evidence of his one punch KO power during his career?
Name how many one punch KO`s Tyson had, I saw a lot of guys get off the floor v Mike and then they were finished off.
Out of my head. Berbick was a little shakey ending of R1, got a body punch and a hook on the head. Thomas took a 32 punch combo before going down. Biggs got up once I think. Tubbs took one hook beeing stopped, but maybe was shakey before. Spinks took one right hook and a body punch for a count. Bruno took some more I think. Williams took one massive hook.
1 punch ko artist is a very misleading title. No boxer in history has all their KO's delivered with 1 punch.
No, in fairness, there were a good few Tyson fight s where he had to hammer away to drop his man. But sometimes it only took one punch from him to get the other guy on wueer st.
Yes I know, Tubbs was probably Mike`s most impressive one punch KO, he did a little dance and fell, not getting up for a while after, Williams got up but was finished, he had a suspect chin anyway.
I was comparing him to Hearns and Julian Jackson, there are also a few others known for just finishing an opponent just like that, Jackson`s KO`s while struggling v Norris and Graham are classic examples of pure one punch power.
Yes, that was a great shot and Mike wasn`t fighting that well in that fight making that punch more impressive.
Jackson landed 3 punches when he dropped Norris. He beat the count and the ref waved it off because his eyes we're glazed. It was neither 1 punch, nor was it a knockout since the ref did not count over him to 10. Against Graham, it took jackson 4 rounds. In the 4th, he landed 5 punches prior to the eventual knockout blow. There is No such thing as a 1 punch ko artist. Even a guy who had devastating power like Jackson usually lands at least a few punches prior to the knockout blow, earlier in the round, or in the previous rounds. That's going to build up damage and contribute to the knockout. No boxer in history consistently (key word) knocks out several of their opponents with literally just 1 punch. Its a very misleading title. If there was a boxer who could do that on a consistent basis he'd be 100-0.
Name me all the heavyweights that have multiple genuine single punch ko's. As Cobe points out the term is a misnomer. Tyson had one punch power for mine regardless of whether he threw fast combinations and the like.
He's got a lot more one punch KOs than Earnie Shavers did, so yeah, he definitely didn't lack for one punch power.
