Pretty close, dont really have a problem Santos getting the decision for the fight up to that point but I agree it was convenient that it was stopped then, just as Magarito was really coming on.
To finish up this subject, how can a fighter wins a fight taking a whole lot of body shots with his back against the ropes, having been stunned badly twice ( end of round 5 by a chopping right hand, end of round 6 and after the "accidental" headbutt by a huge overhand right) and with the crowd on his feet to support him to hold on? Santos moved a lot, boxed and bounced back with some uppercuts but he was nowhere near the stronger man in that fight...
Hey dumbass! Do your research before sounding like an *******. Only one judge was Rican and he had Margarito winning by 1 round...the other 2 judges was not PR and they gave it to Daniel. This content is protected Rocky Young had it 87-84 for Santos This content is protected John Stewart 86-85...for Santos This content is protected Samuel Conde 85-86 The "Puerto Rican" gave it to Margarito. Now you may continue making a complete ass out of yourself:good ...Regards, YOUNG*LORD
Your mother's pimp should've been fixed...instead we have you here, gracing ESB with your semi ******ed retorts.
The fight was unjustly stopped that cut didn't appear to be bothering Margo at all. Margo was definitely about to KO's Santos had the fight gone a couple more rounds. I had Margo up 1 round.
I'm still trying to figure out why people get the impression that Marg was on the verge of securing a knockout. Santos had only been visibly hurt in the 5th round. He hurt Margarito more than vice versa. Santos won the last round of the fight (round 9) and after the round ended, went and joked with Lampley, Merchant, and Steward. Something I don't picture a fighter on the verge of being knocked out doing. After the fight was over, Margarito told Daniel he deserved the decision before the cards were even read. Mind you, this is the same man who refused to embrace Paul Williams after their fight and telling Paul "You lost, man." With that being said, it was still a close fight that I can see either man winning by a point. But to suggest this was a robbery or a hometown stoppage is bull****.
I think there was a little home cooking to go along with that fight, and the way I see it, just before the end of that fight, it was clear Margarito was taking over and almost landing at will on Santos. and I dont recall Margarito telling Daniel he deserved the decision before the cards were read and how would you know? they dont interview these guys before the winner is announced:think
