I've just watched it and i gave 115-113 Diaz Paulie boxed well but just felt Juan threw more shots that had venom and power in them. I don't see a robbery...i saw a good fight and felt Paulie showed himself to be a world class operator but felt he let the fight slide in middle rounds. I was actually impressed by Juan and thought he fought the way i expected him to. I do think he needs a new cutman and Ronnie Shields needs to organize the corner bit better got a bit of a mess in there. Sherif Younan was impressive...he said some comical stuff and looks a real character. Fun fight to watch and both have done themselves no harm at all. Max Kellerman needs to stop being biased as well. Times in that fight he was snubbing Diaz clean combination's and saying ''Paulie landed 5 more shots before that though Bob'' really pathetic commentary from all 3 guys on saturday imo. It's what you like...i just liked Juan's work more. Paulie boxed nicely but i wasn't keen on his punches...at times he would jolt Juan with nice shots then go back to tip tapping him and that didn't help him on my scorecard.
Couldnt agree more. Lennox was a bit pro Paulie too. Diaz done well considering how small he looked compared to Paulie and although one of the Judges card was shocking at least the right man won imo
:yep Gotta speak out about it. Was speaking to somebody yesterday who is convinced the judges was bought off. Seriosly that 118-110 card is a joke something needs to be done about **** like this goes without saying. Ring Generalship is most important in scoring. and Paulie bossed that fight Alex said you and him had it 7-5 to malignaggi
Paulie just nicked it by 2 rounds for me, Diaz ran out of ideas, again i think the cut effected Diaz. I dont think near 140 is the place to be for Diaz, he is a 135 fighter. If i was his trainer i would bring him down to 130 there he could kill people. Diaz lacks real KO power but at 130 i think he would KO alot of fighters.
not for me unless the clean effective punching is hugely in favour of the other guy. When did Juan Diaz seriously land clean effective shots in some of the rounds alot were landed as Paulie went back and his head moveemnt made punches less than clean in some cases Paulies jab and right hand were landing accuratly and clean although he was missing alot he was landing them clean when he did.
I wasn't commenting on the fight, I meant just generally. The criteria judges are given for scoring fights gives scoring clean, effective punches as the most important one, not ring generalship. Obviously you're free to invent your own system of scoring but you're likely to be out of step with the professionals (although given that 118-110 card that may be no bad thing!!!). BTW why is no one up in arms about the 100-89 card in the Jacobs-Smith fight? That was just as bad!!!
The judges in the Jacobs - Smith fight were the same as the Diaz - Malignaggi fight:think That's dodgy enough as it is without the scorecard issue:huh
I thought Malinaggi won the fight close but clear, and boxed really well. I think 'robbery' is a really strong word, which I don't think is quite the correct one to use in this case. That 118-110 card is offensive and damaging to the sport though, IMO.
This robbery bull**** is total bollocks. Diaz is pushing the fight, trading hooks with jabs, stunning him to head and body, catching him off balance, while also making him hold. It was close and competative but robbery, **** that. It was a boxer volume puncher versus a brawler volume puncher. It's a good clash that is bound to go to the decision when neither can punch and both are durable. It's close but no robbery, just depends what you like more.
just watched this fight (in full) and this was a DAYLIGHT ROBBERY no doubt! these sorts of decision's once again proved how boxing is going no place fast! Paulie won that fight by thoroughly out boxing Diaz but because of hidden social politics he was robbed! And we all wonder why people could give a flying f#ck about the sport. Don't get me wrong bad decisions in boxing are nothing new (nelson vs leija, hagler vs antofermo...etc) however boxing was more mainstream then it is now so it could afford an occasional scar. Paulie is not a likable dude it was ironic how he was complaining when he's stolen other people's meal (herman ngoudjo) but he displayed the "sweet science" against Diaz and won that fight! But once again that meant nothing! Diaz was the house fighter so he got the homecooking! I'm pissed!
