I think it's safe to say the mauling that Jc layed on lacy ended him as an elite fighter, how about manfredo ? Did the brutalisation he suffered at the hands of calzaghe enough to end him as an elite fighter or is there more to it ?

Manfredo was never anything special to begin with.

He was essentially a clubfighter who got lucky to be picked to be on that "Contender" show. Otherwise nobody would have ever given a rat's ass about him.

Heard he wakes up in a cold sweat and runs to the bathroom and looks at his face to see of he had red marks all over from the brutal slaps he received ..

After all the ferocious, full-blooded power punches Calzaghe landed on him, he was lucky to escape with his health. Every punch JC landed was like the one Julian Jackson iced Herol Graham with.

It reduced Manfredo from being potentially the next Harry Greb to a glorified journeyman.

Alfonso Gomes and Sergio Mora had already taken Manfredo soul.

One of the best fighters in Joe's resume.that should tell it all

Thankfully the referee jumped in with a perfectly timed stoppage to ensure the ending of this one wasn't as tragic.

It was obvious manfredo had improved after these fights, you had to be a certain calibre of fighter to face the dragon

Yes,beating Pemberton and Spina clearly showed Peter was worldclass.Manfredo lost before Joe to anybody who was half decent, and also after Joe he lost anybody who was half decent.

But against Joe he was at his best, and showed that he is special talent at as his best.

The beating he took clearly quenches every mans thirst for blood while simultaneously feeding every boxing fans hungry for precision, power and a true display of sweet science. I still have nightmares.......and day dreams of that event.

Manfredo was nothing special to begin with.

The only reason hes mentioned is because hes one of Calzaghes best wins
