How about we consider if 39 years old Moore ,37 years old Walcott, fat C*ckell who had been kod by Randy Turpin, Lastarza
going the distance and 11 rds , over the hill Charles going the distance and 8 rds. Lowery going the distance twice.

Now speculate how many rounds they would go with Tyson,Liston ,Foreman?

ps.Ruddock had an asthma attack against Jaco.
Nb Foreman was 40 years old when he fought Martin.

How many times was Peralta stopped in 116 fights ?3 times and one of them was on a cut eye. Whitehurst was knocked clean out of the ring in his last fight with Liston and saved from a ko by the bell.
How about we speculate how many rounds a fat C*ckell[9rds] who had been ko'd by middleweight Randy Turpin,Willis Applegate [distance ]whose record was11-14-2 including 3 stoppage losses,Lastarza,[ distance &11rds,]Charles,[ distance and8 rds] ,37 years oldWalcott,[13rds],Moore 39 years old ,[9rds] Lowery,[distance x2,]would go with Tyson,Liston,or Foreman?
ps Ruddock had an asthma attack against Jaco.
Rondon was 6'3" and over 200lbs when he fought Shavers ,if he was a lhvy what were ****ell,Mathews, Lowery, and many others of Marciano's opposition?

His ok beard failed him when he was in his prime at Lhvy, when middleweight Turpin stopped him.
Turpin was conceding him nearly 12lbs!

As others have said, how many true one punch knockout guys are there?

Julian Jackson and Bob Foster spring to mind as repeat offenders but most other punchers have a couple of genuine one punch kayos to their name(when fighting at the highest level).

Even Foreman hit people with a barrage of punches for most of his knockout victories, as did Liston. So we are looking at a very short list of heavies being "one punch knockout artists".

I personally think that Marciano was a very heavy handed fighter who combined power with volume, and that combination was too much for his opponents.

Capable of the odd chilling kayo, but more of an accumulation type on the whole.

I've seen some of them do that or attempt to.
C0ckell was absolutely battered at the end.

    Why ? Why speculate ?
I can see that Tyson, Liston, Foreman AND Marciano were big punchers. And I can see that sometimes opponents are tough and don't get KO'd as easily as you might expect.

People are obsessing about it only in the case of Marciano because they are so determined to downgrade him.

    - You have an excuse for Ruddock, and one straight out of Ruddock's or his manager's mouth.
Maybe he did have an asthma attack, that probably occurred due to Jaco beating him up.

    - Okay, Foreman at 40 years old couldn't KO a fat light-heavyweight.

Harry Matthews was only stopped 3 times in 103 fights but Marciano gets no credit from you for KOing him in 2 rounds ?
Does Foreman deserve more credit for going 10 and 9 rounds with Peralta ?

Rondon was not over 200. I don't care how tall he was, he was never a legit heavyweight. I was asked can I imagine a sub-200 pounder going rounds with Shavers, Foreman, etc. Therefore, my example of Rondon stands.

I never said Marciano didn't face light-heavies too. But he tends to get criticized because he only beat the sh!t out of them. :huh

I would agree with this, but of course you will now be labelled a hater with the rest of us.

    Rondon was over 200lbs .
Marciano didn't beat the **** out of Ted Lowery ,in fact Lowery was deserving of at least a draw in their first fight, according to many.Since you brought up the issue, 5 of Marciano's best wins are over ex light heavies,3 of whom were past prime.
If Mathews fought ,Liston, Foreman, and Tyson how would he do?:think

No people are objectively answering the question the OP of the thread asked.
I have no excuses for Ruddock just a fact .Whether you choose to believe it or not is no concern of mine.

I don't see many objective answers. I see lots of people wriggling out of the fact that there are virtually no "one punch KO artists" if you apply those standards objectively, and people trying to construct some different standards for Marciano.

Of course Marciano typically needed several more than one hurtful punch to stop good fighters. As did all the others.
None of the great heavyweights were one punch KO artists. That's the objective answer.

As for Ruddock, like I said, if he had an 'asthma attack' that was probably due to Jaco tiring him out and beating him up.
Which part of the video makes you think that it's any different to any other stoppage where a man is taken into deep waters by a plucky opponent ?

Against Shavers ? How much did he weigh ?
(It can't have been good weight, imo)

I didn't bring up the issue.
    mrkoolkelvin brought it up.

Anyway, i don't know about you, but I think Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore were better than average light-heavies and pretty decent heavyweights too.
If little Archie was so easy for a HW to KO how come he wasn't KO'd by Nino Valdes and Bob Baker, who were both quite big and strong ?

    He'd probably get KO'd early.
Which is precisely what happened when he faced Rocky. So what's the problem again ?

I kind of agree with that. And have since...post 2 or something? I think it was first page. I kind of new that was the point.

But then again, you could make an argument that the word artist implies an extremity - and that it should only include guys like Langford and Jackson. I don't know, or care, really, but it's pretty obvious you can exclude almost anyone you like if you just want to kiss off the criteria.

Same as every other argument on here.

My own criteria would include Marciano-Walcott 1 as a classic "one punch KO" but I accept Seamus's protests to a point (if the same standards are applied across the board).
Walcott went from a man who was probably still favoured to win the fight, and still boxing cute, to a senseless defeated man in one punch, one instant.
But I don't care either really. It's semantics.

It's only one fight, a classic one punch KO in my opinion. But I reckon a "one punch KO artist" would be someone who did that a lot, as a habit. Or did whatever the stricter standards of other posters require, regularly.

Even Langford is mostly hearsay. Some of his "one-punch KOs" happened in the 15th round, 19th round whatever, so would be disalllowed by Seamus et al too.
