Was Marciano REALLY superior to Frazier?

What category of fighter would you put Dempsey in?

 

I agree with you about Marciano being hard to time and that he had a certain way of moving that his opponents never really figured out. With that said Joe had some advantages as well. He was quicker and threw shorter more precise punches. When Rocky missed sometimes he missed by a couple of feet with his bombs, not Frazier.

IMO they were just different. I have to give Joe an edge in level of competition though. Charles, Walcott and Moore were great boxers but they were all older and smaller than guys like Ali and Foreman. We don`t know how well Rock`s chin would hold up to Big George`s shots.

 

Frazier had 20 pounds on him, fought bigger, younger fighters .. I favor Joe in a tough fight.

 

This is the simple truth. Marciano was not strong enough to beat Frazier, who overwhelmed much bigger men. I wouldn't even concede that Marciano was a harder puncher.

 

I not only rate Frazier higher i would also pick him to beat Marciano if they fought in the same era

I agree. It`s definitely in question. They both could crack but it also depends on who your hitting.

He used to preface his remarks with," if you were involved in boxing then,as I was, you would know "etc.I asked him in what capacity he was involved and he didn't reply,haven't seen him since!

I agree with this premise , but would give Marciano the edge on power , both were grinders imo.
