Frazier was a great fighter but had a very short prime, his Ellis, AliFOTC fights and Quarry fights showed this. I think Marciano was a better 2-fisted puncher who could take you out with one shot and I think Marciano was more durable. Both had excellent stamina and will to win. I think Frazier style was built around the left hook and it was a force but Marciano was more versatile and punched from some more awkward angles, Marciano also had the better one punch power

26 fight Frazier of the FOTC was a great fighter but he fizzled quickly after that peak. Marciano stayed in until he lost his drive but from his win over Layne to his KO over Archie he was still strong and retired with about 2-3 fights left.

    It's not a given.

Marciano fought Hall of Famers Louis, Walcott x2, Charles x2, and Moore and went 6-0 (5) against them. He was dropped by Walcott and Moore but dropped and stopped them in those fights. 49-0 (43) overall, 7-0 (6) in HW World Title fights, 5-0 (4) vs. Lineal HW Champs, and 6-0 (5) vs. Hall of Famers.

Frazier fought Hall of Famers Ali x3, Foreman x2, Ellis x2 and Foster and went 4-4 (3) against them. He was stopped in 3 of those losses. He was down vs. Bonavena x2 and Foreman x8. It's hard to top his win over Ali. 32-4-1 (27) overall, 10-2 (8byKO) in HW World Title fights, 1-3 vs. Lineal HW Champs, and 4-4 (3) vs. Hall of Famers.

They were similar in height but Frazier had the longer reach by about 4". Frazier was also about 15-20 Lbs heavier.

H2H I could see it going either way. Frazier fought Ali and Foreman (both in the top 4 IMO). He was able to give Ali hell in 2 of their 3 fights but he was dominated by Foreman in both of their fights. Could Marciano have done any better? It's hard to tell to be honest. Marciano fought Louis who is considered on the level with Ali and Foreman by a lot of people but he was past prime.

I always felt Frazier was clearly superior to Rocky.

Rocky has a lot better weapons. Every punch is deadly unlike Frazier who really only had an ATG left hook. Marciano would simply outwork him to a decision or stop him late. Let's not forget Frazier was knocked down against softer hitting men.

The perception may be that Marciano had better power but is it actually true? If Frazier`s main opponents were sub 200lb boxers who were past their best we may view his power differently.

It`s quite possible that Frazier takes out Charles earlier than Rocky did..same with Moore and Walcott.

I don't know if the Yank quote was hyperbole or not. I don't have tape on all of his first fights but to say that he didn't have a good right hand is just the ramblings of a simpleton.

I have quoted trainers and well known scribes who contradict what you say. He had a wollop of a right hand to the body and a very cagey, fast right uppercut. He had an ALL TIME GREAT left hook, tho, which detracts from the work he does with the right.

So, again, you are incorrect. Better minds, people who were there and people who are professionals in the sport have spoken.

    Good day, sir.

Joe Frazier would have worn down Rocky Marciano and beaten him to a pulp.

9 rounds and Rocky would have looked awful at the end.

    And you know something else?

I think Jerry Quarry beats Rocky.

Find the nine hwts Frazier stopped with right hands. Find any hwt he knocked down with a right hand.

You did not live during that era and you live in Europe. You have zero basis to know anything about Joe Frazier. Very very common knowledge that Joe had no right hand and only developed a symbolence of a right hand very late in his career. Cut Quarry badly with it but did little with it a short while later in Manila. That's the history known by anyone close to the game during that time.

Actually just the opposite. Aside from possibly the left hook Marciano was better in just about every category.

Fraziers defense was very predictable and because of that predictability easier to time. Marciano was always blocking, parrying, weaving and all the while stepping in and out of range. Hard to time as he was always changing up.

Sounds like Marciano was a defensive mastermind! Who knew?

No but certainly an underrated defense. Far better than Frazier who only used head movement and tended to languish mid distance. Rocky would slide in and out in a crouch....in range then out then back in. Marciano far more adept defensively and harder to time.

Keep that feeling. You are right.

Frazier would have beaten Rocky down.
