Was Marciano REALLY superior to Frazier?

Even if he had been for real, his opinion would be shaped by all sorts of idiosyncratic factors. For the most part, I think that we learn way more by watching fighters over the courses of their careers than by listening to the conclusions that individual boxers draw from a small sample of experiences with them.

Our opinions are also shaped by idiosyncratic factors.

At the end of the day, nobody knows who's better. But to swipe Ali's testimony under the rug is something I don't agree with at all.

Also, is he the only person to ever share a ring with both of them?

Also taking into account his motivations. He never missed opportunities to stick it to Frazier.

Precisely my original point. Some guys around here are so desperate to win arguments that they're willing to play dumb and overlook the obvious...seems very disingenuous.

But he also never missed opportunities to say he was the greatest of all time.

    Overlook the obvious?

You literally made up his supposed motivation to say Marciano was better. It was imagined in your head.

In reality, he shared a ring with both men. In real life, not in my head.

If you think I'm the one being disingenuous here, you're trolling, or you have pretty bad logic.

Ali's comments of course mean plenty.

He despised Joe Frazier and took every opportunity possible to demean him and diminish his accomplishments. Anybody who relies on Ali's assessment of Frazier in any capacity is either naive & uninformed or dishonest.

Still laughing at "shared a ring." Cool story, bro. I'm sure he had a perfect opportunity to accurately, dispassionately evaluate their relative strengths and weaknesses.

If he said Frazier no one would listen, they would rightly point out that he never actually fought Rocky . . .but since he said Rocky wins it strangely is given weight.

Ali's testimonial means a lot for me personally.

It follows a pattern of how guys talk about Marciano before, and then after fighting with him. Or in Ali's case, sparring.

Before fighting Rocky, people are like:

After fighting him, they're like: :scaredas:
