Was Margarito's loss to Paul a fluke?

It was a close fight and Williams' style didn't help.

So far, Margarito hasn't beat a very good or elite fighter. He could do it against Cotto.

  2. NO fluke at all Williams was on that night, plain and simple.:smoke

I'm 100% sure that Cotto will hurt Margo to the body. It's so long that he has to.

I don't think so... He may have started off to slow but it was Pauls relentless pressure and constistant offense that won him this fight. Paul I think had a bad night against Carlos but it will be interesting to see how the loss affected paul w.

I think Quintana and Collazo could beat him due to their movement and boxing skills. Clottey could possibly beat Margo if he works on his stamina. Berto is too green and Zab can't handle pressure.

Margarito started too slow. He pretty much gave away the first 4 rounds by not being active enough while Williams was throwing non stop.

The fight ended 7-5 for Williams, but hey even the Punisher admitted that if Margarito had fought harder in the 12th he would have kept his title.

I actually think Other than Cotto and Mayweather. No one at WW beats Margarito. Mosley-Margo would be a very close fight but i dont see Mosley even putting a dent on Margarito and MOsley likes to brawl too much which would not be good against Margarito.
If i was Margarito i would go for Quintana. He is the man who beat the man. It would be redemption and he would also pick up another title. I think Quintanas stamina problems would cause him to get KOd in the later rounds. Margarito is just too damn relentless for Quintana and he would eventually get to him. Against PW he did good because he could actually hurt him with his punches but i dont think he would do anything to Margarito. Cintron landed some big clean flush shots on Margarito on saturday and Margarito just kept walking forward.

Considering he beat Cintron the same way as last time I just think PW is a stylistic problem for Margo more than anything else.

It was obvious that Margarito underestimated Williams. He was trying to knock him out with one punch, just following him around all night.

Against Cintron he respected him enough to not get hit constantly and to use volume and body work early on. That's what he should have done to Williams too.

And he likely will in a rematch. The first fight was close enough as it was with Margo not doing much of anything for 4 rounds.

It wasn't a fluke...he just corrected his biggest weakness against a weaker opponent.

His problem against Williams was that he took the first half of the fight off. Here he stormed out early and got the job done.

i dont think so, it was a bad matchup for tony. if anything i would say the quintana win was the fluke. i dont like saying it bc i hate taking credit from fighters and quintana does have some skill but i think if the pw that fought tony showed up with his punch output he would have beat carlos as well/

Exactly, it might be the case. Nevertheless, I'd like to see PW-Margo 2. Probably Williams needs a good win before that, though.
