Yes IMO, and Barrera won that fight too

Remember round 7? JMM was clearly winning that round then Barrera legitimately KD him so it was suppose to be 10-8 for barrera but then JMM was clearly winning that round until the KD came so it becomes 10-9, then Barrera hit JMM with an illegal shot while he was down so that's a 1 point deduction, making it 10-10

That round should've been a 10-10 round not a 10-8 round for JMM

But it's all good, referee error and human mistakes ;)

Shoulda been a 9-9 round actually.

And JMM did beat Barrera clearly in a very close fight, but those wide scorecards were ridiculous.

And yes i think this possibly could be the best technical fight of the decade...What a great fight this was.

There is no 9-9 round, if you know boxing, you should know this :patsch

10 point must system one of the rules

That's in the absence of other factors. If no one gets knocked down and no one gets a point taken away for a foul then the winner "must" get 10. However, if there's a knockdown, foul or even if it's just very one sided then it can be 10-whatever. The guy who said that that round should have been 9-9 is right.

Would of been 10-9 either way IMO.

Marquez was winning that round big before the KD.

    i scored this for Marquez

this was a great technical fight. Marquez and Barrera were compact all around with their defense and offense. the counterpunching in this fight was great. i consider this the no.1 technical fight of the decade. anyone else have other examples?

I think JMM won clearly. It was one of those fights were the rounds were close but one guy JMM usually ended up winning the round closely. So yes the scorecards were wide but it was a close fight.

I can see how it can be controversial but to say Barrera won is wrong. He made it close round per round but in the end he lost wide.

A "9-9 round" means there was a deduction for a foul. Suppose Fighter A clearly wins the round, but was also deducted a point for an intentional headbutt. The judges would put down 10 for Fighter A, but also next to the 10, the judges would write down "-1" to denote the deduction.

I'm not a big fan of this fight. I thought Barrera was sluggish after the opening few rounds.

    Marquez deserved the victory.
