In all the years of following boxing in the UK and the world I have never heard it said that Finnegan downed Hagler 3 times in their 2 fights. If it happened none of the newspapers or even Finnegan have ever mentioned it. Anyway for all he was a good fighter I couldn't see light punching Kevin putting Hagler down.
Like has been said Hearns and Mugabi stunned him but seriously hurt...never. (i need to see the Hart fight) Hagler was a hero of mine growing up, he was a complete fighter. Personally i love the Briscoe fight, with Marvin being forced back for long spells and boxing beautifully on the retreat, standing and trading only when he needed to. His fitness and stamina was superb. ps I think Leonard was smart in getting Marvin when he did and over 12 rounds instead of 15.
thank you:happy one of my favourite hagler performances. brilliant boxing and ring generalship and probably the best pure boxing performance of his on film
:thumbsupI only seen this fight in recent years and would of been too young to see it back then anyway (i was 2), but when i did see it, it just cemented even more my love for Hagler. I followed his career religiously as a kid. I definitely agree it's his best boxing performance. Two other things that really stand out in this fight is how strong Briscoe was and how supremely fit Hagler was. Another thing i think is Hagler still didn't have that confidence that comes with being champion, thus he relied on his superb skills more. But the fact Briscoe was a beast had a lot to do with it, but i hope you get my point. Like i said, complete fighter Marvin, love him to bits. Hagler/Monzon is a dream match up. But that's another thread.
lora im gonna call u out making things up in honor of this forum kev acquitted himself very well in the first fight but that's about it.
