Marvis was a slow starter like his dad, just needed to start smoking.

    Poor Marvis

He was actually a decent top 15 HW. But, just too small and not nearly as powerful or durable as his dad.

Also, it was dumb to put him in with a pre-title Tyson.

They could have waited until after Tyson got the title and Marvis would have gotten good $$ to face Tyson in a title fight. Marvis was ranked in the top 10 and he had the name to legitimize the fight.

The ending would have been the same but at least he would have gotten HBO type money, instead of the considerably less ABC backed money.

I actually saw Marvis a few years ago while waiting for the Amtrak train at Union Station in Washington, DC.

I should have talked to him, but didn't.

Maybe it was for the best as the only images in my mind of him were the two 1st round KO losses and the second round beating he took from James Tillis that should have resulted in a LTKO 2.

too soon. He was out cold. When any fighter can land that clean an uppercut that early, the fight is over.
