Not an insult... just looking for someone with greater knowledge to enlighten me. He talks alot about how he is the money maker.. but his Baldomir fight looked like a flop

baldomir fight was quite successful actually. he really never had a PPV until gatti, which was a minor hit. ever since he's been a solid draw or spectacular draw with the right "hero" opponent. i don't think he's ever been in one with under 300 000 buys

He wasn't a flop by any standards. We can say that DLH very much helped him reach that upper level in regards to his profile with the casual, non regular boxing fans or sports fans in general. At that point, people still felt one of the most popular boxers ever,DLH, was still capable of beating the best fighter in the world in a very competitive fight. So after beating DLH, Floyd just became the official bad boy most casual boxing fan want to see lose...therefore will always keep drawing lots as long as he faces legitimate opponents like Mosley, Pacquiao, possibly Williams, etc.

He sold in the 300k range. Pretty solid, especially considering whom he was fighting. None of the other guys had headlined PPV fights before, and Judah wasn't doing much to promote the fight (remember he blamed the Baldomir loss on spending too much time promoting the bout).

But certainly not what he is today. Both Pacquiao and Mayweather's PPV numbers skyrocketed after facing DLH.

Yes he was and there's plenty of evidence but the usual suspects will be here soon trying to dispute that!

More proof that De La Hoya was boxing's cash cow. Mayweather thinks that he is a bigger draw than Oscar was. Without Oscar, he would be doing 300,000 buys.Period. Also, Hatton had 11,000 fans travel across the pond to watch him, further proving that he, not Mayweather, was the real draw in that fight as well.

You fool. Who said OLDH wasn't the cash cow? The reins have been passed. Now I dare you to dispute who they were passed to. Who?

It's still debatable between Pac and PBF.

On the outside it seems like Floyd is hands-down in the lead now but I honestly can't see Floyd fighting someone like Clottey and selling more PPVs than Pac/Clottey did!

Too bad he outsold emmanuel every time they fought mutual opponents.

No arguing with that, but that could just be a case of timing. Floyd got the opportunity first. In the case of JMM, Floyd fought him when JMM's name recognition was at it's highest!

Again, do you honestly think Floyd/Clottey would have made more than 700k buys:think

exactly PBF vs. Oscar 2.44 million buys $136 million revenue
Pac vs. Oscar 1.25 million buys $70 million revenue

yes floyd/clottey would have done more than 700k. Its also interesting how floyd always knocks them all off first before pac cleans up the leftovers.

  15. Yes because Floyd definitely fought Marquez, Cotto and Clottey before Pacquiao did.
