I've seen a lot of PPV fights over the last ten years that failed to live up to the hype. Jones-Tarver III was particularly disappointing as the gunshy Jones showboated all night while he was losing almost every round...but Mayweather-Baldimor was bar none the worst PPV fight I have ever seen. I invited my pops out to a local bar to watch it and he was so disgusted he walked out after the 6th round. Thoughts?

When I say worst, I'm referring to entertainment value.

I'll give u that....it was pretty f'n bad. Don't know if I can rate that above the pink gloved Gayweather running all night from the slow, iron-chinned Argentinian....but its right up there.

...well you'd expect that if your shelling out money to see a fight, you'll at least be mildly entertained.

According to Floyd fans that was a great display of boxing and you should be honored to see that.

There are far worse, I never thought this fight was boring to be honest as long as you understand what goes in there. Otherwise Gatti vs Ward is always available to download and UFC PPVs are also available so pack your bags and rid us of the likes of you.

It sure as hell was if you understand what's going on in there, appreciate movement and boxing skills. If you don't understand what's going in there then you don't understand what a style in boxing mastered perfectly in one fight is all about.

It wouldn't have made 350k buys with a horrible undercard competing with a free SHOWTIME heavyweight event featuring names like Lyakovich, Briggs and BabyBull Diaz if it had no expectations.

Those aren't true boxing fans and are basically casuals, a hardcore boxing fan will always appreciate a certain style in boxing as he will appreciate other styles too.

I guess if the author of this thread found this PPV horrible then he hasn't seen the Gomez/Margarito PPV either, remember how much that made despite the exciting undercard?

Based on the guys styles I think everyone knew it was going to be a boxing exhibition than a slugfest.

Yep, if Margarito had more exposure with better fighters it would have done better buys most likely.

This all means nothing in this topic, this topic is about horrible PPV buys and that one is a perfect example just like the numbers prove.
