With all the layoff's and only fighting 4 rounds vs Ortiz, was Floyd simply trying to get rounds under his belt?

At times he bored and was toying with Cotto, he completely dominated him in the middle of the ring but refused to fight there and sat in the corner until Cotto smothered him, he even went as much to dropping his guard completely on the ropes, to throw uppercuts.

Was he essentially using the tough Cotto as a tune up for a future fight?

Floyd would have never taken those lumps intentionally.

No. If the opportunity to get Cotto out of there arose, Mayweather would have gone for it. The fact that he hurt Cotto in the 12th probably stopped him from going for the kill and risk getting caught with something himself.

No he would have wanted to put cotto away early and if this was the case he would have at least scored a knock down. Then he could have used the argument that he put cotto away which pacquiao couldn't at a catch weight.

whats with this bullsht? Mayweather kept saying he was going for the KO and the reason he didnt and got busted in the nose was because of Cotto. Whats with every ***** and Floyd fan desperate to spin that somehow Floyd was carrying Cotto?

please sell it to someone else.

While he had Cotto in trouble in the last round, I dont think Floyd "carried" him. Cotto did some decent work in there, and used his size effectively (at times).

Floyd did whip Cotto's ass. One guy had a blood nose. The other was pissing blood. One was a little marked up, the other face looked like a 500lb man had sat on his face for 12 rounds.

And Floyd did toy with Cotto in the 12th. Given he dropped his hands, smiled and danced and landed at will.
