I see your point but I just dont see it happening. No one can use best P4P in the world right now other then Floyd. Others can say One of the best but not the best.


It was both fighters. Neither will come close to doing those numbers again in the UK at least.

 

A fight made that is as huge as this was,will always get decent PPV figures...........but In the UK it's undoubtedly because of Hatton and stateside his profile was heightened by all the pre-fight press coverage and had a lot to do with the successful PPV over there,because fans thought he genuinely had.... even if it was small....a chance of shutting him up.

 

the thing is most people didn't know who mayweather even was, they all thought its another ricky hatton fight where he goes and destroyes his opponent while they sing, the only thing they knew about floyd was that he was the best in the US, i had guys asking me if floyd has a chance,

there were also a few guys who kept forgetting floyds name and kept calling him weatherman:huh

 

what you are asking is not a reflection on mayweathers and hattons popularity in there respective countrys.

for example i will give you a hypothetical answer.

hatton fights malinaggi in the uk on ppv with big 24/7 build up and fights at 9pm on a saturday night.

say it brings in 1 to 2 million ppv

mayweather v malinaggi gets a 24/7 in the usa and goes out at 3 am california 5 am new york time to suit an italian waiter in australia-gets
( ) insert a number you beleive it would get.

 

They were able to hype up the fight because of Floyd actual status as the best in the sport, best in the USA, best P4P. They wouldn't be able to use that for someone else.


Im simply saying they were both the draw, Mayweather became the guy that people in the UK disliked and wanted Hatton to destroy.

If Hatton did that I would then be proven wrong. But until Hatton pulls those numbers again against someone else. It was both of them.

 

If mallinaggi came over to England and u had it in open stadium ie a football ground that is 42000 people or above right way. Also the clubs and bars it will be on in the UK and then u could have in excess of 4- 5 million people watchitng it if it is on at prime time which is 10 'oclock in the UK.

he fought collazo at 4am ito 5am n the morning

urango at 4 am to 5 am in the morning

castillo at 4 am in the morning

mayweather 5 am in the morning


not sure why you do not understand this has an effect on how many people watch a fight.

 

yes thats why it sold out like it did, it would have probably made similar numbers if hatton was fighting either cotto or de la hoya, it was advertised as hattons toughest challenge where the odds were stacked against him.
