Maybe. The other side of it is that Dustin is actually really good. He has improved a lot since they last fought. Id like to see a third bout. Gregor is the type to go back in there and do it again
I think it was a competitive era more than an overrated one. I think there are/were a lot of diverse and skilled guys and only a few could be seen as dominant over the field.
To be honest I can't stand the guy because he's a loud mouth and I've never liked arrogant fighters. However, I also don't care to **** on a man's accomplishments when he was clearly very good. He beat the previous p4p #1 Jose Aldo, who hadn't been beat in years, he held titles in two weight classes, and was very competitive with Khabib who was p4p #1. Simply put McGregor was excellent. I think he slipped after the Mayweather fight. He became more interested in money and celebrity vs being the best. Dustin Poirer was also always very good with great potential. I think we just saw Dustin reaching his potential. Also MMA is very different from other sports in terms of peak performance. Their peaks are much shorter because the sport is much more variable style wise, and their whole body gets beat up. It's not just their brain or upper body that take a beating, it's everything! It's their ligaments, joints, legs, hips, feet, toes, etc. Everything takes a beating. I'm surprised some of the top fighters have lasted as long as they have.
