With such a respected list of wins , how can he be seen as overrated , especially when considering / ranking him as a mere contender and not as an ATG. So many contenders did much less throughout the years to get a title shot even when there was only one title. And considering Lewis' foul manner of winning , Grant definitely deserved another title shot.

Grant was overrated at the time he got his title shot. He was being seen as the next great heavyweight and that was never going to be the case. But now he might be a little underrated. He was a decent fighter and picked up a few nice wins during his career. He was big and had a good jab and decent power. His problems were chin, mentality, and clumsiness but he had heart though. He is largely remembered as an example of a fighter being overhyped, which he was, but he wasn't that bad of a heavyweight in all fairness.

Was Grant's problem really his chin, or the fact that he had no defense whatsover to help him roll or slip punches?

Good post, I have a soft spot for Grant, seemed like a good man and he had all the physical tools, if only he had defense and knew how to fight tall and box. Steward would have done a good job with Grant imo

Imagine if there was a Grant around today, there'd be a group wankfest on the general. Yes he has gone to been underrated by boxing fans

And like I say, I think the Lennox fight ruined him, that was a sick beating he took and I hope he was paid well

Lennox absolute annihilated him. Hit him with ome savage right uppercuts, and the last kd in the first (left-right) should've flattened him for the count, but with respect to Grant, his chin has never looked great and Lennox was a murderous puncher, so Grant certainly showed heart.

He also has a chance for a flukey K.O over a top contender like Adamek later on this year, so who knows, he might get some joy at last. I expect Adamek to keep a high and tight guard and pepper Grant with shots and win a UD. Grant can still whack, and for once, he might not have to worry about getting sparked.

Was a good 2nd tier win for Lennox. One of his most impressive performances giving how Grant was being hyped at the time, bigger and deemed a puncher. Lewis just wiped him out as soon as he senses that GRant was coming out bombing. Says a lot for Lennox's character, and I used to think of him as 'boring, cautious and weak chinned'.

I think the above three statements are entirely untrue, although he could go into Auto Pilot mode at times. But it's clear to see he was a beast when he felt he needed to be.

I remember that assclown Michael Katz predicting a new era of the heavyweight division ushered in by the colossus that was Grant. He was to revolutionize the division with the size and athleticism.

Who hires a dumb**** like Katz to write or commentate? He was at the peak of his intellectual abilities as neckbrace model.

Good ol' Lennox....hold Grant behind the head.....and uppercut him.

    That's the way to go.
