Let's settle this once and for all...

  2. No, he didn't have Kevin Rooney in his corner.

    do you smoke crack sometime?

Tyson was washed up y then.

    kevin rooney was gone

there was no head movement jabbing attacking the body cuting the ring off or combos punching.

you got to learn about fighters more.

your same dude that said tito beat de la hoya

    Physically, yes.

He had all the tools needed to perform at the same level he always had. This didn't become untrue until he went to prison. I imagine his preparation was absolute **** though, dropping 20+ lbs a couple weeks out and getting floored by sparring partners for the first time in his career.

It's difficult to argue undefeated, reigning champions being so far past their best.

Yes he was in his prime but there is no doubt that he wasn't training properly.

    Drew,

Do you agree that it does Tyson no good with the claim that his prime was "86-88"? I think it makes him look like an absolute embarrassment to be honest. His general prime to me was 1985/86-1991 over which he went 41-1 (36) dominating over a very good title reign against basically the who's who of rated contenders from the era. The way he bounced back from Douglas to beat Ruddock twice and put himself in a position to regain the title just prior to prison is impressive.

    uh huh...... sure.....

the moment tyson lost he wasn't prime anymore.

because he lost his trainer. boo hoo.

don't forget to say tyson was way out of shape for the douglas fight too.

that one is used a lot as well.

and btw , i never said tito beat delahoya. go read that tito-delahoya thread again.

it's called "VERY OBVIOUS USE OF SARCASM"

well.....very obvious if you're not a complete moron that is.

  12. Obviously, you don't know **** about Tyson.

Tyson came in that fight, with no technique whatsoever. He wasn't jabbing his way inside, no headmovement whatsoever, and didn't seem interested at all in being in the fight.

Being in your physical prime doesn't mean **** if you abandon good technique.

oh i know tyson very well.

    love tyson.

think he is severely underrated nowadays.

i just don't feel the need to make up stuff and say prime tyson never lost.

and 50/50 when i was a watching him fight , you weren't yet.

unless you're an old fart like me too.

If you want my honest opinion, I consider Tyson's prime to be from 1985-1996, all the way up to (and including) Tyson-Holyfield I.

Keep in mind, in March 1996, after being released from prison, Tyson knocked out Frank Bruno in 3 rounds, less time than it took for him to do so the first time they met in 1989.

Physically yes, but Tyson had poor preparation for the fight. He did not have a good team or a good trainer. Tyson is a mentally weak fighter, but Rooney really whipped Tyson during training camp to cover up his weakness. Against Spinks Tyson sparred hard for eight straight weeks.
