Perhaps not at his peak, but he had an obligation to come in physically and mentally prepared and I just can't make any excuses for the guy as much as I'm a fan. Tyson had last been seen in the ring disposing of the #2 rated heavyweight in the world within 93 seconds against Carl Williams. Maybe if Tyson hadn't bounced back and convincingly broke down the most dangerous fighter in the division, I'd be more inclined to agree. He was humiliated in Tokyo and came back from it with a vengeance. I'm really not sure why they tend to gloss over the time period immediately following Douglas and just before prison. It's skipped on just about any documentary or tribute I see. You'd think he lost to Douglas and then was promptly escorted to the pen.

As if to say Douglas destroyed him as a fighter. Bull****.

    He was in his prime.

But he didn't train at his best, that is all.

Tyson was still in his prime when he lost to Douglas. I believe his prime ended after Ruddock II when he went to prison

Physically, which is all that counts, yes.

    Mentally, no.
