When Tyson head butted Holyfield, did Holyfield bite off his ear? No he didn't. The fact that you're trying to justify it is laughable.

Stomping on Holyfield's foot or hitting him in the nuts wouldn't have been as bad if it was retaliation for the head butts.

Biting is one of the worst things you can physically do to a person. And he did it twice! Chewed off a chunk like a Damn shark. You dont "accidentally" bite someone twice because of the "heat of the moment". Even at my angriest when getting jumped at a bus stop biting was the last thing on my mind.

Tyson wanted to get DQ'd. He did not want another humiliating loss. I understand the whole frustration if the ref isn't penalizing the opponent but this narrative is honestly pathetic. Mike simply did not have the best mental fortitude.

    It's as simple as that.

Again, however, I must admit Mike showed that missing (at the time) fortitude against Lewis. He did keep coming on, even though it was obvious some of the shots he was taking were hurting him badly. I imagine even his mind rebelled against continuing (watch those right hands bouncing off his head...talk about painful!). He showed he had heart by continuing even past what most sane men would.

    Absolutely not.

If he had headbutted Holyfield back, or hit him in the family jewels, then I would be able to argue his corner up to a point.

    Garbage naive post
Both obvious roiders, sad you can't see DESPITE being given a source proving he was a buck 85 in real life. Then a two months later 221..and full of roid rage.

It was way to early to declare that Holyfield had it in the bag, he had a few good moments and so did Tyson up to the bites.....Holyfield knew that tyson was in better physical shape then the first encounter, the mental shape is up to debate so he could not count on Tyson gassing later on as in the first....only then in the first encounter when Tyson gassed he got brave otherwise it was a one punch clinch fest. For that reason Holyfield got as rough as possible from the get go in the rematch to get the upper hand and he was headbutting like crazy up close, any neutral observer could see that....Hello rahman......Mills Lane lost control while Holyfiled took it to the streets and Tyson responded with street retaliation, simple, and the rest is history.

Tyson took the action that he knew was guaranteed to save him from another arse whipping, stop kidding yourself otherwise.

If he thought he could legitimately win but still wanted to make it a street thing why not retaliate with disguised headbutts, low blows and punches after the bell as he did in numerous other fights? Why do the blatant foul that would leave the referee no alternative but to DQ him? Answer- Because he knew Holyfield was still stronger, tougher and better than him and he wanted an out from another humiliating beating.
The rematch was following the identical script from the first fight. Holyfield out boxing him at range and controlling him through superior strength in the clinches. Tysons power wasn't registering with Evander at all and I'm guessing he was already fatiguing due to being a 3 round fighter and front runner post prison and being behind already against a guy who rendered him senseless in the fight prior.

Evander was brave enough to want to keep fighting after his ear was bitten off whereas Tyson only got brave when there were 30 security guards and handlers seperating them after the fight was stopped. Tyson disgraced the sport and should be treated with contempt for his actions as should anyone who tries to justify it.

Why are you using childish, insulting terms like "garbage naive post"? It smells like someone whose Ego is attached to being right. And uses the anonymity of the Internet to insult & feel better about themselves.
You want to discuss this, don't be a mini-Trump. Come correct.

Anyway, back to the actual issue.
I asked for a source, so far I just saw the claim that these were his sizes within a few months.
And he was always full of rage, that means nothing.

Holyfield though somewhat taller than Tyson was much smaller in his first years as a pro.
While Tyson was big by 13, without lifting & with no credible access to steroids-& before he boxed.

But you show me the information that shows he went from 185-221 in 2 months-& looking like he did in his first fight...
Then I will happily rethink my opinion.

That was the only time in his career that I thought Mike Tyson looked intimidated. At the stare down. Holyfield looked right through him.

Mike Tyson was far from a clean fighter even in a his heyday he was known for elbowing his opponents. He landed bomb after bomb on Saverese after the ref had stopped it. Tried to attack Golota after he quit, elbowed Biggs repeatedly. Bit McBride on the nipple and tried to break his arm. Repeatedly tried to break Botha's arm. Was Holyfield dirty yes but Tyson was also a dirty fighter.

Tyson believed biting Holyfield would in somehow break his spirit but guess what, it didn't. He wanted to continue and give Mike another beating so what does Mike do, he bites him again like a cur.

Look how Mike cowardly ran up to Holyfield once I had turned his back and then pushes him. And then has an "old me back" moment.

    No.

Even if Evander was fouling him, he went beyond the bounds of reciprocation.

Tyson was pretty insane during that period of time.

Tyson had never been cut before, then in Round 6 of their first bout he's leaking due to headbutts. At the post fight presser Mike's head is wilted with lumps, not from punches but headbutts. He got hit a lot in the end but those lumps were caused by headbutts.

The rematch all of a sudden Mike's bleeding as early as Round 2 from Holyfield's dome.

You don't bite the dude's ear off but I can see where Mike was frustrated with Mills.

That last paragraph sparked a memory from the second bout. After the second ear chomp, Holy was livid and so was Mike in regards to the headbutts. They resumed action briefly and both fighters were intense until Mills Lane finally called a disqualification. Holy wanted to continue and I always wonder what the outcome of the fight would've been? Would Tyson bite him again? More headbutts from Holy? What if Tyson would've somehow beat Holy and ESPN kept showing replays of Tyson spitting out Holy's ear? That would've been a real **** show for boxing. In a sense, the right man won but how differently would Mike's career have turned out if he beat Holy in the second fight? A lot of fates turned that night. If Tyson would've somehow kept it together mentally from all the head butts and somehow beat Holyfield, his second career might've looked upon much differently and he would be a much more regarded fighter today. That fight changed the course of both men's careers. Holy had a second spring and beat Moorer in the rematch and was competitive and high level for many fights after. Tyson seemed to drift from one carnival fight to another and never really threatened to regain the title a third time.
