Was Mike Tyson the biggest HW under achiever of all time...

i always considered mike dokes to be a huge under-achiever, i was a massive fan of early dokes

 

This is pretty much it.

Tyson is my favourite boxer of all time, but even if Cus d'Amato/Rooney were still around he wouldn't have achieved the the same longevity of success as the other greats of all time. Tyson in his prime was almost physically perfect; everyone has to have a weakness and Tyson's was his mental strength. When things were going his way and was in control he was a monster. Every time he faced prolonged adversity he crumbled.

Stripping away any emotion and just weighing his strengths against his weaknesses I'd say he achieved exactly what he was capable of which is why I always say he both over and underachieved and his capabilites are both under and overrated.

 

He would have lost to Moorer and Bowe for sure.

 

Tyson wasn't a truly confident fighter. Against a fighter with true confidence like Holyfield, Moorerer, Douglas, Bowe, Lewis he'd always lose. That is because these fighters never feared anyone they ever faced and truly believed in themselves no matter who they fought.

 

He didnt underachieve but could of done more. I still think a prime tyson would find it very difficult against a pime lewis or klitschko.

 

Bowe is 50-50, noway does Moorer beat Tyson.

Moorer former LHW with a very very dodgy chin? hello no.

He hasnt got the size advantage to keep Tyson off him, Moorers got nothing to beat tyson with, yes hes skilled, but does he survive 12 rounds with his glass jaw? I dont think so.
