Was Montell Griffin just a fluke, or could he really throw hands?

Didn’t he fire Futch after the first fight with RJJ? (Or they split over money issues, something like that?)

On the one hand, Eddie’s game plan gave him a brilliant chance to at least hang with Roy and have a chance to legit win before the DQ (although Roy Jr seemed to have caught up with him and be on his way to a win), so getting rid of the mastermind wasn’t the best strategic move.

On the other hand, the version of Jones he ran into the second time around was probably going to steamroll him anyway, so maybe best to pocket as much of that purse as he could, haha.

I remember, after the Olympics, Montell just showing up for 2 days up at Galaxy.

James and Montell Sparred each day.

    Montell gave James fits.

James' antics after the session explained the outcome of the sparring, it wasn't pretty.

Hey, some guys just have the other guys number.

    Montell had James'.

True, boxing is somehow one of those sports where it doesn't matter how great you are, there will always be 1 or more person that would give you problems, even Floyd got rocked a few times.
