Reading an old Ring mag[[March/April 1968],I came across an article about Frank Moran ,who had died a year earlier. In it Moran talked about his fight with Luther McCarty, which took place three weeks before McCarty's ill fated bout with Arthur Pelkey.
Moran stated that he went into the fight with a cracked left thumb, but managed to land plenty of right hands on the cowboy Mccarty.Moran's right was known as his" Mary Ann", he said, he broke three vertebrae in McCarty's neck during the fight, and that McCarty's manager put a robe around him and walked him stiff necked the several blocks back to their hotel.
Ive allways been led to beleive that Mccarty's death was attributed to a fall from a horse some time prior to his fight with Pelkey.Does anyone have any further info on this?
