althoguh i do give mayweather alot of credit for what he has achieved, i cant c how people can believe that mosley was even 50% of what he once was

    jus like jones vs calzaghe
mosley landed big right an hurt floyd

but then suddenly stopped throwing making floyd look amazing

was shane simply a man who can no longer pull the trigger as roy culdnt do against joe

both shane and roy had incredible hand speed and unbelievable combinations but are now gun shy

they both had their man hurt bad but culdnt seem 2 land anything for the rest of the fight
dont think it was a question of not being in physical shape but of being mentally very old

Oh cut the BS. Mosley is in no way comparable to the Jones who fought Calzaghe. Roy Jones hadn't been taken seriously as a top level fighter for half a decade when he stepped into the ring with Joe. Mosley was arguably the #1 WW going into the Mayweather fight.

I think the comparison makes a lot of sense. Although with Shane it was still the question if he was over the hill (15 month layoff), and Roy was certainly over it.
And of course it's the question how good Margarito is really... how long was he loading up? First time? Years?

No, it wasn't. Shane Mosley on Saturday was neutralized, much like most knowledgeable boxing fans who recognize the impact styles have on fights knew he would be. This fight was not surprising in its outcome, only in the one-sided nature of it, which any logical unbiased fan of the sport will/has credited to the supremacy of Mayweather. Mosley was hungry, game and coming off perhaps the second biggest win of his career. Mayweather penetrated him mentally(whether he will admit it or not) and finished the job in the ring.

Roy Jones to the contrary has been a dead man walking since 2004. He lost his will to win, killer instinct and the tangibles and intangibles which made him great a long time ago.

There is NO similarity whatsoever to the Jones vs. Calzaghe fight and you'll find the ones most ready to accept this comparison(even in this thread) are biased haters with little credibility.

Fixed it for you:good. I agree he just wasn't himself its like he didn't try to make it a fight but I can't blame him he's had back 2 back training camps and a long ass period of inactivity. Don't get me wrong, Floyd would still be victorious had Shane had a tune-up or two beforehand but it would've been a MUCH closer fight compared to what we saw that happened on May 1st.

Nah Shane has much more in the tank than Roy does now especially in the timing department. Those 2 right hands in the second round proved that though Jones threw the perfect punch to send Calzaghe to the canvas too. The only way I can compare these fights is saying that both Roy & Shane couldn't capitalize after making their opponent appear vulnerable. Shane has still got a a good chance to pull off a decent win and retire whereas Jones' last decent win was against Lacy though that was more of Jones looking good and Lacy being more shot than Jones. Roy doesnt have it anymore I hope he retires it pains me to compare the current him to the prime him when he was seen as a monster.

I wouldn't say Shane looked as bad as Jones in the Calzaghe fight but I agree both looked gunshy and unwilling to dig deep to at least make the fight close though I can't blame them. Shane may have overtrained.

He was beaten because he didn't have the speed or reflexes needed to fight his fight, no WW pushing 40 is close to their peak.

Pretty good analogy actually. I'd say it's pretty close.
