Was Muhammad Ali's 60s era really that strong?

Be fair? How is claiming Patterson looked like a child, fair?

Ali was 23. Patterson was 30 and a two-time heavyweight champion. Ali outweighed him by 14 WHOLE pounds.

Willard made Dempsey look like a "child" and Dempsey beat the crap out of him. Nicolai Valuev outweighed David Haye by 100 pounds and had nearly a foot in height on him, and Haye beat him for a belt.

At heavyweight, 14 pounds isn't anything. Jimmy Ellis outweighed Patterson by 10 pounds, and Floyd broke Ellis' nose and arguably should've won the title a third time that night.

James Smith, I salute you. Ali gets a pass on everything he does. He beat up a bunch of cruisers in the 60's, and a couple of dubious wins over Liston. You are correct, sir.

I'm going to take a wild guess here. You've never seen their fight. Or any of Patterson's fights. Am I correct?

Are you high? I've been collecting boxing matches for 30 years. I've got every version there is of those fights.

Floyd was the smaller guy in a lot of fights he won. I know. I've seen all there are on film.

Unless you have all those Patterson fights that didn't make it on his record where he towered over his opponents?

How can you question Ali's era when Joshua has not fought not only in any era yet, he hasn't even been tested yet. You Keep talking to Bailey and a few of his Brit friends dick riding Bellew and fellow Brits and all they do is keep you talking about utter bull**** lmao. These clowns are just trying to get a rise out of you because you're American.

So what if you collect films? You don't understand what you are watching, if you don't understand that Floyd was too small to be fighting Ali. Comparing Ali to Jess Willard and Valuev are your arguments?

Ali fought his share of bums, but he did fight Foreman, Frazier, the Holmes fight was a disgrace for boxing..............

Wilder takes the cake for fighting bums. He has, so far, fought 5 voluntary title fights against winos from the alley and will rematch the bum Stiverne who is a fat over-the-hill old man..............he is out of shape. Shame on the WBC for making him the # 1 WBC mandatory, why not Ortiz or Ruiz?

Losses didn't mean you were bad back then , it was just that someone was better.

Take Floyd to the 80's and he is just another good little fighter.

I've never really heard anyone say that the 60's was a great heavyweight era. It was an era though where Ali beat Sonny Liston, a boxer that was a huge favourite for very good reason. He was knocking guys clean out. At the time he was regarded by some as the most fearsome heavyweight that has ever boxed, and Ali toyed with him. The truth is, lets be honest here, Ali turned out to be the best of the 70's, one of the strongest heavyweight era's of all time, and that was a slower, older Ali than the 60's Ali. Ali was just a truly great boxer that would rule in any era.

Yes of course Ali is mega overrated You guys are talking as if you've made a brand new scientific breakthrough....

But those one or two performances will continue to astound people decades from now. And those performances have carried boxing since then
