Tubbs went the distance with Prime Bowe even won some rounds and always schooled him in sparring and even gave Ali a run for his money as a kid in sparring...get real. Mathis was not anywhere NEAR healthy when he fought both Frazier and Ali.

The ONLY relevant PRIME guy Ali actually fought in the 60's was Patterson,talk about a mismatch!

If you have a problem with something I said on another thread then you need to address it in that thread. Not some thread over a year later where it has no relevance. I never would use Byrd beating Vitali as evidence that smaller hw's are better. There are plenty of instances where I smaller heavyweight beat a bigger heavyweight that I have to choose from.

 

Cruisers were introduced to expand the market for HWs, not to accomodate superheavy. It has been a marketplace of the middling and mediocrity on the whole.

This is regarding superheavies - the group that is being indirectly referred to in order to validate this thread. Noone has tried to separate them to date with a superHW division.

Lol sparring has no relevance to an actual fight. Sparring is sparring. Spence gave Mayweather a hard time in sparring do you think he would have done the same in an actual fight at the time? Of course not. Lol and that was when Ali was waaaaay past prime, a good number of fighters could have beat him at that point.

How do you know Mathis's health? The only similarity between Tubbs and Mathis is they were both fat. Nothing else. Mathis was in way better condition to go 15 and be effective. Mathis went the distance with a version of Ali that beat Foreman does that make him good???

Uhh ever heard of Ernie Terrell, Karl Mildenberger, or George Chuvalo??? They were all relevant and a hell of a lot more prime than Floyd Patterson.

You definitely didn't watch the Joshua-Whyte fight. Whyte was making Joshua miss and look like a slow plodder. The funny thing is Whytes' boxing was terrible his footwork was slow as hell and Joshua could barely catch up to him.

Comical isnt it. Blizzy made a silly comment about how he couldnt rate or pick for Joshua because hes not a lineal champ or beaten any greats, so I asked him a load of questions and which HW greats he would favour him against and he picks all of them to beat Joshua.
I dont think he grasps how much different the HWs of then were to today. It doesnt mean the yesteryear fighers werent great because of course they were at their time but that doesnt mean I think many would do so well 40/50 years on
