Was or is John "The Quiet Man" Ruiz featherfisted?

Holyfield was already clearly on the downside. Look at Ruiz's record - he has ONE stoppage win over a fighter above the journeyman/tomato can level, and that is Oquendo, who has never been known as having a particularly good chin. Clearly, in the HW division, he was not a hard-hitter, not even close.

Now, does that mean Roy Jones has a glass jaw. No it doesn't. Don't forget that Jones was, at best, a cruiserweight when he fought that fight. Although Ruiz was clearly not a hard-hitter, he was a HW, however talentless.

Absolute bull****. I hate Ruiz because he is a cheater and a fraud, because he held excessively and faked "low blows" to "win" fights he could never have won on the basis of his limited ability. He cheated his opponents and the fans, and is therefore a disgrace to the game

As far as Lewis, I don't hate him, I just think he is ridiculously overrated by some fans. Including yourself!:yep:D

Oh, man I missed that one!! No, Golota had Ruiz on the deck twice, landed more punches, and got another point because Ruiz pulled one of his illegal manuevers, and actually got called on it for once!

And yet SOMEHOW Golota "lost" the decision. That's another thing that accounted for some of Ruiz's "wins" - gift-wrapped Don King Decisions. :yep

Exactly. And the Oquendo stoppage was highly suspect, Oquendo was exhausted after 10 or so rounds of grappling with Jawny and got a bit stunned/staggered by a punch but never went off his feet and wasn't even in serious trouble. It was about as unconvincing a stoppage as you'll ever see, I think the ref was just trying to save the crowd from another 2 rounds of that nonsense :yep

Nowadays you can become champ if you are not that good. Ruiz is an example of a guy who should never have been a champion. The thing which was no good is the division. That is the only way to explain Ruiz being a champion. I never saw him as a legit champ.

He actually wanted that chance when he called for a unification on numerous times. Point is, he fought everyone that they put in front of him and he ducked no one. He did not win and defend the title just once, but twice. Zakman keeps crying about how Don did this and Don did that for Ruiz, but he is not the only fighter Don has allegedly helped or Arum. If in fact there was any help. Zakman you don't know for sure if he faked fouls or not. Any part of the cup gets hit by especially a HW, will hurt.

Ruiz has not KOed anyone of note and had not had a KO in the 3 years before the Jones circus fight.

If you look at the round by round punch stats for Ruiz/Jones you will see there are several rounds in which either fighter landed in the single digits or very very close.

That fight was like a glorified sparring session and proved nothing about Roy's Chin. I am not taking anything away from Roy's win he won fair and square it was just not a very action packed fight and it showed that when Ruiz was FORCED by the referee to fight WITHIN the rules how limited of a fighter he really was. He is nothing without his grabbing, holding, clinching, and faking low blows.

Ruiz landed 1 body shot and a punch that was half on Roy's upper chest the other half on that fragile Glass Jaw.

Other than that Ruiz landed NOTHING the rest of the fight.

The Glen Johnson fight tells me all I need to know about Roy's fragile Glass Jaw.

    :rofl:lol::patsch

A fighter like Ruiz can't duck anyone he HAD to fight who they put in front of him he was no draw, has no fans, and a boring style. You are acting like that joke Ruiz had mutli million dollar fights lined up or something. :patsch

The guy had to fight whoever because otherwise nobody would have ever saw him fight.

Ruiz certainly is underrated. That doesn't mean I have to like him though.

He can still be underrated but ****ing suck. It just means he doesn't suck as much as people think he does.

john ruiz is a good man. he tried very much to beat jones. he lost. but he would try try try until he wins if there were many rematches.

maybe he hits hard. maybe his hit is soft. but he always tries. all should respect john ruiz. he is a friend and a hero for all fans of boxing.

Question, are you drinking? Most of the fighters put in front of him were top ten figthers. He made his money. Two million here and three million there. Something you or I can not achieve unless we hit the lotto. He has fans. Yes, agree about the boring style and how easy it looks to beat him, but ask Rahman, Golota, Oquendo, Johnston, Holyfield x 3, Tucker. He wanted to fight Lewis, but what you just posted; it would not sell and even Lewis stated this. RJJ and Ruiz was more like a sparring match and Ruiz came up from LHW himself to HW for the money.
