Was Oscar-Floyd close?

It seemed throughout the fight that Floyd had an extra gear that he didn't even bother to use. One of his worse performances to date.

 

I agree that it was competitive early and DLH faded. I don't think the whole fight was close, but within each round in the first part it was hard to judge who landed cleaner sometimes within those 3 minutes. In the end Money took it cleanly.

 

I had 8-4 Floyd.

 

If Oscar could have kept to tempo up for the last 3 rounds he'd have won. Believe it or not, Floyds not that hard to beat.

 

I had it 115 113 to PBF only because he never was pushing the tempo at all.

Yes it would have been a bigger margin had he fought a bit more i felt Oscar was making the fight happen and if it was up to PBF a punch would have never hardly been thrown.

Like someone else said if ODH had have been able to keep his tempo up for the last 3 rounds he would have won in most peoples eyes.

 

I gave Oscar rounds 2-3-4-6-7-8 and Floyd 1-5-9-10-11-12.

Thus, a draw.

As Floyd won his rounds a little more convincingly, if I had to pick a winner, it would be Floyd.

Therefore, a Floyd win by SD was a fair result.

I thought De La Hoya did just enough possibly earn a very, very controversial decision.

It was close in the sense that no one actually dominated the other in the mold of Margo-Mosley. However, Mayweather won it. It is a fight where accurate punch stats really helps.

 

So, after what you saw in the ring by both fighters that night, you felt that an immidiate rematch should happen?

 

Floyd won in a close yet decisive fashion.

I'm puzzled how this fight is "controversial" now and it wasn't 5 minutes after the fight was over.

MANY hoped that Oscar's starpower would garner him the win, but there is no way he won more rounds than PBF.

-I think floyd clearly was the better boxer
-I think the HBO crew was skewed to Oscar, every time oscar did anything Jim Lampley blew his load. Oscar grabbed and hit Floyds body belt line- and Lampley had to mop up a mess off the mic.
- I think Oscar initiated all the exchanges, and was clearly the aggressor
- I think floyd wasnt as active and busy as he could have been, choosing to fight in spurts, every 20 seconds or so.

I think Oscar simply didnt land enough clean shots to deserve a win, and floyd didnt engage enough to earn a wide and decisive, or rather, satisfying victory. with all that though- Floyd was clearly the winner.

was a really frustrating fight. Oscar could and should have won if he had stayed with the jab, and floyd also, could and should have done more with what he was doing.

to me- i saw that floyd couldnt hurt oscar, but that he also couldnt miss oscar. oscar had a real hard time finding floyd that night.

and as i said , the hbo team was as bias as i have ever seen them.
