I thought some of the rounds were close but Mayweather won by a wide enough margin. I had it 8 rounds to 4 in favor of Mayweather. Pretty damn decisive victory in my opinion.
You had the Kleenex to hand then fella yeah? Steve Forbes beat him up worse than Floyd for ****s sake. Get a grip you fanboy nobheads.
"Close", depending on your definition of "close", but VERY clear. It was a competitive bout which saw one man emerging victorious without any question whatsoever. There is no justification for scoring that fight for Oscar. Which seven rounds did Oscar win? This needs to stop.
This all depends on how you score fights. If you're impressed by clean, effective punching, ring generalship, and defense, then you probably gave Floyd 8+ rounds. If you're impressed lots of arm punches being thrown that don't land or barely land, then you probably gave Oscar 5+ rounds.
One of the greatest myths in modern boxing history: Oscar forgot to use his jab in the last half of the fight. More to the point: Floyd figured Oscar out and neutralized him.
I don't remember exactly now, but I scored it at the time and I think I had about 8-4 or 9-3 for Floyd, with Oscar winning most or all of his 3 or 4 rounds in the first 8 before giving it away. I don't even know if there would be talk about people here scoring it for Oscar if one of the judges hadn't inexplicably scored it that way thus giving license to people to claim that Oscar winning was a legitimate possibility.
I remember his wife started cheering when they announced "And NEW..." I bet she couldn't leave the house for a few weeks afterwards.
Exactly. One wretched scorecard gives some people the breathing room they so desire to make ridiculous claims and dispute the obvious, which is that Floyd won clearly.
