Was Pac-mans 154 pound title legit?

To be fair to Canelo he did go on to beat top 10 ranked (I believe) opponents in title fights in Rhodes and Cintron which makes his title more legitimate.

He didn't just drop the title as soon as winning it.

That's for sure. I count his 154 pound title as a legit and good 147 pound defense. Margarito was stronger at 150 than he would have been at 147, and he is really a career welterweight, and an elite welter.

I think it makes Pac's 147 title legit, but the 154 thing is just a smokescreen. Having said that, Margarito was stronger at 150 than he would have been making 147, for sure, that late in his career.

 

Margo was fine at 150 and still gave cotto all he could handle afterwards
