No, it cannot be a legit 154lb title win if your opponent isn't allowed to weigh more than 150lbs - I'm a Pacquiao fan but any boxing fan that isn't a fanboy can see that for what it was. Still a decent win though.

I agree that the win is legit, but the title is laughably bogus. Margarito might've been a slow punching bag, but he was really good at it.

 

Poor comparison. David Haye won a paper title at the HW limit but Pac won a paper title against a blown-up WW at a catchweight.

 

Well it's a legit world title but I don't see it as particularly legacy enhancing.

Well in the purest sense, the WBC sanctioned it, and they fought at 150 lbs which is within the jr. middleweight limit. So that was a legit title he got.

However, that does not mean he's the top dog at 154 during his time there.

Besides, it's just a stopover.

The win sucks. Not among Pac's 20 greatest in my eyes. But that is not what the thread is about...

The title, however, was officially sanctioned by the WBC. If it isn't lineal, it doesn't mean much, but yes the WBC deemed it legit. No beef with the fighters, just with the WBC title sweepstakes.
