against Marquez? I think he was hitting Marquez with some good shots before the stoppage, then again I think even Marquez was surprised when he KD and KO'd Pacquiao his face expression showed it, I just think Pacquiao got more reckless than usual after the KD

Personally I think so. He looked pretty damn good in this one. But I also think that as he said he got a little reckless when he thought he had JMM hurt a bit. But I think it was the right fight plan. He just got caught with a shot he couldn't take. That's boxing. And a very well placed counter by JMM. He earned that one.

haven't seen pac look this good since cotto. if he wasn't so greedy i think he would've stopped jmm in 10 as he looked like he might be developing breathing problems in his nose. but i think jmm also realized he would have to walk through the fire and heat and take some big punches in order to allow pac to get reckless so he can counter.

It seemed like he was on his way to stop JMM late in the fight, but he took the right hands like a sparring partner. Yes he was winning the rounds, but defensivley he was as worse as he has ever been.

He looked better than in the previous JMM fights, but nothing compaired to when he was a brawler to beat on. I'd love to see them feed him Ortiz next, just to see everyone's opinions on Pac when he looks just as good as he ever has.

People act like Marquez was dominating Pac and the KO him. Pac was pounding on Marquez and was ready to take him out, he just got caught by a punch that Marqez set up perfectly. Marquez knows that he escaped a close call. Prop to him for pulling it off though.

Against a brawler and quitter, of course he'll look good.

He was hitting Marquez more easily than usual, and Marquez actually looked like he was on the road to losing by stoppage at the end of the fight -- his face was bloody, and he was getting hit with left hands. If Pac hadn't been so eager to close the show the fight might have gone in the other direction in the following rounds.

That being said, it could be that Marquez was getting hit more because he was less interested in defence and more interested in hurting Pac, especially after he knocked him down in the third. You can see him use the same shot that he used to get the KO in the 5th round, and it rocked Pac -- it was hard to see because the referee got in the way. He was trying to lure Pac in and crush him, and when he landed the shot the second time it finished the fight. Pac was being more aggressive and active in this fight than in their previous encounter, and it cost him -- the more you attack, the more chances you give to a counter puncher to exploit your openings.

The brawler part is really what I mean. Cotto, Marg, Hatton, Ortiz. That whole brand is why both May and Pac look so amazing. There are guys who they'd beat, but will never look amazing against. May does better against the others because he is so much more stubborn, so he forces counter punchers to go on the aggressive and ultimatley has an easier fight of it. The most exciting fight would be Canelo Vs Pacquiao. A come forward and heavyhanded up and comer against the best aggressive fighter. Would be a great fight and I'd have Pacquiao winning it, with Canelo's loss just going down as "inexperience" stupidly.

when he led with the lead left in the third fight he caught Marquez 90% of the time, this time unlike the third which was trying to demonstrate pacquiao's new found technical skills was to attack as roach had realized when pacquiao attacked and stayed busy he could get to Juan

I chose Pacquiao by UD, i felt they had the right strategy finally, when pacquiao stayed busy and moved side to side he kept marquez on edge and prevented marquez from feinting him as much, saw the sparring footage knew they were working on the lead, also liked how pacquiao was throwing when the sparring partner leaned foward and felt confident pacquiao could get beat Marquez this time.
Pacquiao has an my opinion been the one to come in completely different for all of the fights whereas Marquez found a good formula after the 1st rd in the first fight and stuck with it ever since

Marquez' power was a new wrinkle though, most definitely, i was very suprised

Plan A was to turn into more of a pressure fighter than fight in small spurts....

    A pressure fighter is a bad match-up vs a counter-puncher

Counter-punchers are reliant on controlling the action thru the sharpness of their counter punches. With this they minimize the amount of aggression brought against them and they are better able to mitigate and control the opponent. If a fighter isn't deterred and just continuously assaults, then it drastically changes the ability of a counter puncher to be fully effective. You cannot effectively look to counter punch every flurry and exchange if continuously assaulted.

This was very apparent in the 1st fight in the 1st round. That is why they went back to it in this fight. He started to seriously overwhelm Marquez in the 4th and 5th round. Unfortunately, Pacquiao was also coming in a bit reckless, but figured he could take Marquez's punch, considering he had spent 36 rounds already with him and not even knocked down. Angel Hernandez did a good job really specializing and prepping Marquez's arms for power and speed.

Pac was in destroyer mode that nite. Best version since Cotto IMO. Props to Marquez, Pac came in motivated with ko intentions. Lesser fighters would've folded with that version of Manny.

PAC was doing a lot better...aside from the first and last Knock down PAC was winning the fight. He was landing at a higher connect percentage...his shots were doing more damage and PAC was the one pushing the fight. Manny was actually having an easier time with JMM than in the previous fights but Juan was able to find a way to stay calm in the heat of battle and stick to trying to catch PAC with that counter right....It worked.

All night it was PAC's straight left vs Juan's straight right....and PAC was winning that battle. Ultimately Juan's right won the war.

Yea, I'm sure Marquez is breathing a big sigh of relief that he got out of the fight having only managed to knock the other guy out for about 5 minutes. Whew, lucky him!

Pacquiao landed more because he opened up more, and he got KOed because he opened up more. You don't get one without the other. If he plays it safer he doesn't get KOed, but he also doesn't land as much and you end up with the 3rd fight.
