Agreed. I did a double take as I was absolutely shocked. Completely Unlike Morlocks to let his anger get the best of him.

I saw a rare vid on youtube where Cus was talking Ali saying Marciano would have gave Muhammad far more problems thanDempsey would have because Dempsey always dipped his head forwards bringing his head nearer to Tunney`s lead hand, meaning he was easy to hit with the jab and that Ali would have landed more jabs on a Dempsey than Tunney did, he certainly didn`t teach that to Mike.

Smith missed most of the shots he threw at Tyson he only caught Mike because he lost focus after all the holding, Bruno was out boxing Smith before he gassed, skill wasn`t really part of Smith`s game at all.

Marciano isn’t even involved in the conversation the Tyson style and how it was refined by Cus is .

I just like starting discusions and feel Tyson`s skill level is vastly underrated.

No I was trying to say Cus wouldn`t have learned or taught anything from Dempsey`s style because he didn`t rate him highly at all, he felt Marciano was far more skilled and had a better style to beat Ali.

Yes and I don`t think Patterson or Liston looked more skilled in that bout than Tyson did in his prime, I feel he would have landed more shots on Floyd while finishing in a round than Liston did.

You lost me . Cus didn’t take a Marciano style to
Patterson nor did he take Marcianos into Tyson otherwise he would have blue printed more of Frazier into him . He took the flaws of Dempeys out of the equation and made that style far better with the right fighters .

Tyson got hit far less by Tucker than he did by Buster and that`s just after Tucker stopped Douglas.

    This isn’t true .

“Dempsey would switch into southpaw and back to chase after his opponents, bobbing and weaving to get close enough to throw a power blow, often making a figure 8 motion with his head as he did so. He would angle his steps both to cut off the ring and take him off line. His weaving motion blended seamlessly into his punch, and helped load it up with even more momentum. He used this same figure 8 motion to put his head off line and load up each punch on his Dempsey Roll.”

That was called the Dempsey Roll a bob and weave skill that would lead to Damatos peekaboo style .

This is what Cus taught Patterson and Tyson from Dempsey. More Tyson ,to say he didn’t think Dempsey was not good is revisionist to the extreme.
