Was Pavlik really 111 degrees four days before the Hopkins fight?

i remember reading in the y-town vindicator that it was Loew that made the 111 temp comment. He was just runnin at the jaw again. Pav was sick, he lives and trains in this **** hole weather of northeast ohio. i dont believe he was at 111 degrees. Everyone knows that Jack Loew likes to talk alot, unfortunatly now sometimes people listen and write this funny **** into stories. If i said i know someone who said he saw Pav on his deathbed 2 days before the fight, nobody would pay any mind :rasta. If Loew says this, its news.

Probably not. I'm not sure what the highest fever anyone has ever had and lived (without brain damage) but the CDC and other medical resources have recorded fevers up to 115 degrees from what I remember. I actually should ask the UC doc how the girl was doing later on cause I know she had a follow-up appointment. I think anything passed 107 or 108 is where you start to develop brain damage.

Anything at 105 or higher is very dangerous if you do not get it under control.

Hell, I gave a speech in front of a business-men convention with a temperature of 105. After the speech I got congratulated on a good speech but everybody wanted to know why I was so nervous; with all the sweating. People vary in their reactions to infections and some people simply get extemely high temperatures very quickly. This brain-boiling B.S. Hell as a kid my temperature exceeded 107 on several occasions. The doc just kept advising "Cold compresses on the forehead."

That excuse is almost as rubbish as Pacman's SOCKS excuse.

111 degree is very dangerous and a pro fighter like PAvlik and his handlers should know better.. Why fight then?

    That's a lame ass excuse.

It was a misprint. Kelly's temperature was 101 prior to the fight. His elbow was messed up and needed to be drained during training and he fought Hopkins at least a full weight division lower than Hopkins. He went on with the contest because the workingclass fans of the small towns and rural areas of Ohio had already bought hotel rooms and tickets for the big fight. The only thing amazing about Hopkin's victory over Pav that night is that the old coot couldn't manage to K.O. a sick, underprepared, much lighter opponent. Kelly took his beating like a man; unlike the cowardly thug Hopkins who low-blowed the ATG Joe Calzaghe, used his head as a third arm, and when overwhelmed by Joe's punch output faked lowblows and cowered like a *****. Joe simulated anal-**** behind the bowing Hopkins and reminded the thug of his former prison days. Karma is a *****.

No, his "illness" before the fight has been exaggerated to lessen the blow.

The Vindy is a rumor-spreading rag of crap. Loew came straight out after the loss and said "no-excuses" and never talked anything about illnesses, weight or any of the bollocks. The story about Pavlik being ill came from a reporter, whether or not it was true. Team Pavlik never made any excuses, so don't attack them.

The story origninally came from Thomas Hausser who is one of boxings most respected journalists. Hausser said the fever was caused by bronchitis, and it was 101 the day before the fight. He was also in the locker room before the fight, at ringside during the fight, and in the locker room again after the fight. Hausser is an extremely credible source, but people would rather gossip and belittle fighters than accept the facts.
